U Fold Card

I'm on a mission this year to use up more of my patterned papers, Card Candi and brads, use some of my neglected stamps, reduce my pile plain snippets, as well as try out some 'new to me' folds.  So this card ticks all the boxes. 😊

The theme for the current Butterfly Challenge is 'U for U Fold Card'.  Although I've seen this fold a number of times in blogland, I haven't made a card with this fold.....until now.  The card folds flat for posting and there are instructions to make the card HERE.  I followed the instructions, but changed the base card to 9" x 6" so the finished card is 6" x 6" when folded.

The stamp is a Woodware one, 'Bubble Bloom Carol', with the flower heads just the right size for Card Candi.  I coloured the leaves and border with a green Promarker.  I embossed snippets of pink card with a Spellbinders 'Dainty Dots' embossing folder.  The snippets of patterned paper were from a Lili of the Valley paper pad, which from memory came as a freebie with a craft magazine a few years ago.  The two butterfly brads came from Lakeland, when they used to have a craft department.  A computer generated sentiment finished off my card.

This shows the card from a slightly different angle.

Interactive Cute Penguin Card

I'm sharing a card today which I made for a friend's birthday.  My friend is a Teaching Assistant in Penguin Class and was my Teaching Assistant when I taught Sunflower Class.  I wanted to incorporate a penguin and sunflowers in my design and this is what I came up with.

I used a MFT 'Cross-stitch Tag Die' with a snippet of thick white card and cut off the top to make it into a rectangle.  The penguin was cross stitched with crochet cotton.  The striped patterned paper was from my snippets drawer and I added three black pearls.

This photo shows the front of the card when the tag is pulled, revealing the stamped sentiment and the tiny punched sunflowers.   The card opens like a conventional single fold card to write the message.

Last weekend I had to cancel a Stampin' Up 'Timeless Tulips' workshop I'd booked in for, as my hubby and I were invited to a special celebration lunch on the same day.   A friend collected my stamps and card from the workshop for me, so I could make the cards at home.   I copied the designs made at workshop, with a few tweaks here and there to use embellishments and a punch I had at home.  Here are the finished results.

More Than One fold

The Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme 'More Than One Fold'.   Our generous sponsors this month are Lili of the Valley and Crafty Ribbons

I decided to make a Joy Fold card, which has two folds.  Lili of the Valley kindly gave the DT  digi images to work with and I chose to use 'Watch the Birdie', which I coloured with Promarkers.  I used two coordinating papers from the Dovecraft 'True Blue' paper pad and added five Card Cardi down the right hand side.  The sentiment is computer generated and raised up on foam pads.  A brown brad keeps the card closed.

This photo shows the card open, revealing the space to write the message.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on the 28th March, so please pop over the the blog to see all the beautiful cards the DT have made.

Card for a Football Fan

A card for a female football fan whose team plays in blue and white quartered shirts.

I used a Die-namics 'Quilt Square Cover-Up' die.  The black frame was attached to an adhesive sheet, the die was used again with blue and white card and I inlaid the pieces in a quartered design. The background was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  I die cut the sentiment and mat with Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' dies, added three little black pearls and raised it up on foam pads.
