I'm on a mission this year to use up more of my patterned papers, Card Candi and brads, use some of my neglected stamps, reduce my pile plain snippets, as well as try out some 'new to me' folds. So this card ticks all the boxes. 😊
The theme for the current Butterfly Challenge is 'U for U Fold Card'. Although I've seen this fold a number of times in blogland, I haven't made a card with this fold.....until now. The card folds flat for posting and there are instructions to make the card HERE. I followed the instructions, but changed the base card to 9" x 6" so the finished card is 6" x 6" when folded.
The stamp is a Woodware one, 'Bubble Bloom Carol', with the flower heads just the right size for Card Candi. I coloured the leaves and border with a green Promarker. I embossed snippets of pink card with a Spellbinders 'Dainty Dots' embossing folder. The snippets of patterned paper were from a Lili of the Valley paper pad, which from memory came as a freebie with a craft magazine a few years ago. The two butterfly brads came from Lakeland, when they used to have a craft department. A computer generated sentiment finished off my card.
This shows the card from a slightly different angle.
I am joining in the following challenges:
Beautiful - the spotty candi works beautifully with the dotty embossing.

This is really pretty and I must check out the instructions for this fold - one I've not come across. Well done for your resolution to use up things in your stash - I must have thousands of card candi as well as the usual scraps of paper and card not to mention paper pads from way back.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute design and such an adorable card.

What a beautiful card with a great fold. I saw that Card Candi and remembered when I HAD to have some of those. I finally sold the remainder of them at a garage sale. I felt guilty for letting them sit so long in my stash of "had to haves". [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that you used little butterfly brads on this! I probably have some myself somewhere...and need to look for them. I only realized this U-fold can be mailed and folds flat, after I made one. Love your use of scraps and the card candy!
ReplyDeleteGreat fold and papers, this is one great card to make.x
ReplyDeleteA Beautiful card Liz, love the papers, the brads, card candy and super design. Well done you on using "shtuff" :)

What a gorgeous card and a great fold. I think I have done this fold but we called it by a different name. I think it was a bridge card. No matter the name, it looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWow Liz, this is a beautiful, cheery card! I've not seen the U card before and I am really liking it! This card is sure to cheer someone who has been ill. I love the image you used and the beautiful papers/embossing folder. The color combo is perfect too. Those candy dots are perfect for the flower heads, love them! Now I'm off to see how this fabulous card is made. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a list you have made. I love how you have used the Candi on The Woodward stamp and that it is spotty to match the embossing folder. You have made a really pretty card. Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me. Hugs Mrs A.
