I'm sharing a card today which I made for a friend's birthday. My friend is a Teaching Assistant in Penguin Class and was my Teaching Assistant when I taught Sunflower Class. I wanted to incorporate a penguin and sunflowers in my design and this is what I came up with.
I used a MFT 'Cross-stitch Tag Die' with a snippet of thick white card and cut off the top to make it into a rectangle. The penguin was cross stitched with crochet cotton. The striped patterned paper was from my snippets drawer and I added three black pearls.
This photo shows the front of the card when the tag is pulled, revealing the stamped sentiment and the tiny punched sunflowers. The card opens like a conventional single fold card to write the message.

Last weekend I had to cancel a Stampin' Up 'Timeless Tulips' workshop I'd booked in for, as my hubby and I were invited to a special celebration lunch on the same day. A friend collected my stamps and card from the workshop for me, so I could make the cards at home. I copied the designs made at workshop, with a few tweaks here and there to use embellishments and a punch I had at home. Here are the finished results.
That penguin card is absolutely adorable! I love your tulip cards too, pity you had to miss the workshop but you've done a great job with them.

Oh Liz, this Penguin card is adorable! I love that you cross stitched the penguin but even more than that, I love how you made it represent the present and past for this teaching assistant. I love the way it opens on the front of the card base and I love that it also opens like a regular card. Well done and I know the teaching assistant will love it! Your tulips cards turned out beautiful! They sure give the feeling of spring, they are sunny and oh so beautiful! Hugs, Brenda
