Yesterday I had a great day at a mixed media workshop with Andy Skinner, which was being held locally. Another day when I was totally out my comfort zone with paints and inks. I still can't get all the acrylic paint out from under my nails! I haven't quite finished my project, so I'll post a photo another day when it's completed.
My card today uses an embossing folder, die, stamps and patterned paper from the Apple Blossom Magazine and Kit, which I bought recently. The embossing folder is a relative of 'That Folder' which was a very popular embossing folder which came as a free gift with a magazine a while ago. I covered the front of a card blank with yellow card, which was an recycled file divider. As I recently finished supply teaching, I have been emptying all my old files (and there were a lot!) and saving all the cardboard dividers to put in my snippets drawers. The flower was stamped twice on the same yellow card and fussy cut, with a tiny punched, green circle and white pearl in the middle. I used an old green card divider to die cut the scalloped border, after stamping the sentiment. The punched butterfly covers up a mishap with black ink that I didn't realise was on my fingers and was impossible to erase on the embossed surface!
I am joining in the following challenges:
Wow, Liz, this is absolutely gorgeous! I love that embossing folder and everything else about your card! Awesome job with recycling those cardboard dividers! Looking forward to seeing your mixed media project!

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazingly beautiful card you made. I love that curvy look and all the embossing details. The pattern paper, the flower and little butterfly really make for an awesome design.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteI have been after this lot for a while but hubby is one of his no spend drives that he goes on every now and then.
It would have to be now when that is out and so lovely.
Your card really pops and the design is gorgeous and fresh looking.
Beautiful work cutting out that flower also.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
It really is a lovely set, Jenny, so worth the money. I had a couple of magazine subscriptions, but let them finish last year so I could use the money to get a magazine or set I really want instead. xx
DeleteSounds like a good and fun play date Liz! I'm anxious to see your mixed media project. Wow, what a beautiful card Liz! I love that paper you have used and the border-the wave is so pretty on it. Love the little flower and that embossing folder. I need to subscribe to a magazine like that. lol Love, love, love the card and love the way you fixed your little inky mess with the butterfly. I hate when I get ink on my card, but it happens to all of us from time to time. Good think there are no mistakes in crafting and that they can be fix, covered up or something! lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteA fantastic card Liz. I would love to see your finished project from the Andy Skinner workshop. I could see why you were out of your comfort zone with the Andy Skinner workshop, your styles could not be more different.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful CAS card Liz - ahh naughty little inky blob - thank goodness for the butterfly coming to the rescue.
ReplyDeleteOh lucky you - I imagine that workshop was great and messy fun :)
Have a wonderful week.

Pretty card Liz. Love the patterned paper --- so pretty. And the snippets of folders are just the right colours to add the frame and banner. How exciting to have a mixed media play day with Andy Skinner. Looking forward to seeing your project. xx
ReplyDeleteI missed seeing this one - sometimes the names don't always come to the top of my bloglist when people post - no idea why. Loving this and also loving all the goodies which came with this magazine which I felt was well worth the price.
ReplyDeleteI'm having that problem too lately, with new posts from blogs I follow not appearing in my reading list. Seems to be a blogger glitch at the moment. xx
DeleteWowser Liz - what a stunning card. Needless to say I adore it and am now sitting on my hands here so as not to run and buy that wonderful EF. Apple Blossom really make some lovely things!

The magazine/kit is such good value for what you get in the set, especially the wave border die which can be used with all the other similar folders. You need to get those hands out, no use sitting on them! 😉 xx
DeleteNice card. Thanks for joining us over at Country View Challenges !
