Thinking of You

I spent yesterday with a local craft group I belong to.  I managed to batch make twelve more Christmas cards in this design, using up snippets of blue, green, purple and red.  I also got a cross stitched design made to make into another card later this week.  It's mainly a scrapbooking and mixed media group, but there are a couple of card makers and there is always lots of chatting and laughter and plenty of inspiration as we look at what everyone is making.

Today I've made two sympathy cards, one for my sister-in-law and one for her mother, on the loss of a much loved father and husband.  I decided to make two similar cards, just reversing the colours.

I bought this Sue Wilson 'Butterfly Rectangle' die recently in a sale (a bargain that was too good to resist 😉) and this is the first time I've used it.  The set comes with several dies, including the butterfly frame and the matching mat.  The little flowers are punched and I added tiny pink pearls in the centres.  The sentiment is a Woodware stamp, stamped in Versafine Clair 'Morning Mist'.

For the second card I placed the little flowers in a triangle, but I think I prefer them in a straight line.

The butterflies are enjoying their summer recess in the Butterfly Challenge, so there is no special requirements this time.  A butterfly and flowers is all that's need to join in the challenge this month.

I am joining in the following challenges with the first card:

  14. This butterfly frame die is lovely and those sweet pink flowers look pretty either way. It made beautiful cards for your family members. I would love to have a crafting group here but I do get to enjoy zooming with some terrific crafty ladies. None of my friends stamp except my sister in law. I've tried to drag them kicking and screaming into stamping but no takers yet!

  19. First off, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss your SIL and her mother have had. I hope these beautiful sympathy cards help to give them a sense of comfort. Your cards are both so serene and peaceful. That butterfly background is stunning and I wouldn't have been able to pass it up either. that it was a bargain was a bonus! Nicely done Liz! Hugs, Brenda

  25. Gorgeous die cut and two really lovely cards. I love how we can use the same die cut and layers and just change the color of paper for a similar card but different enough for it to be it's own design.
