On Friday I went to a mini Stampin' Up workshop run by my friend, Inkabelle. This was one of the cards I made. It's a great design for using up thin snippets of paper. On this one, I ripped the card to give snowy effect.
On Saturday our craft group held it's usual monthly craft day. As it's nearly Christmas, this month it was twelve hours long.... 9am - 9pm! We all do our own thing and I managed to make ten Christmas cards and two birthday cards, as well as finding lots of time for chatting, laughing and eating!
This is one of the cards I made, using the technique from the card above. The patterned paper was from The Works and too thick to tear easily, so I just cut it in thin strips. I used a Memory Box 'Vesha Ornament' die to cut the aperture. The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Greatest Part of Christmas' set, stamped with Versafine Claire 'Strawberry'.
While I had my bauble die out I made a this card. Instead of filling the aperture with strips, I put a snippet of blue, snowy paper behind the aperture. I used the die again to die cut the bauble from a snippet of silver glitter card and inlaid it into the aperture.
I am sharing this last card in the following challenges:
A beautiful seasonal trio Liz. How lovely to have crafty sessions with friends, it's something I miss, the craft warehouse closed where I used to run workshops, miss the warehouse full stop as it was an Aladdins Cave.

I'm lucky to have a local, thriving craft group that meets monthly. The other crafters are mostly scrapbookers, but we still get inspiration from each other and it's lovely to craft with other crafters. It's sad to see so many independent craft stores closing and there aren't many local papercraft shows anymore either. xx
DeleteYou had a really busy couple of days Liz, beautiful cards
ReplyDeleteWow three great cards! Love the tree; great way of making it! And the bauble is great for me to use up some of my washi... good idea! And a blue bauble is totally my style... Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun and productive weekend Liz- your aperture cards are beautiful.

Wonderful cards Liz - thank you so so much for the inspiration! The cogs in my brain are turning (slowly but nevertheless turning) as I have a similar MB ornament die ... and that tree - well it too has given me ideas because I absolutely love the torn edge snowy effect! Hugs, Kate!
ReplyDeleteThree fab cards Liz, they are all brilliant though my favourite is the tree, I love how you have ripped the paper to mimic snowy branches. Sounds like you had a great and very productive weekend … don’t think I have ever managed so many cards in a day, wow! It must be lovely too to have craft sessions with friends, sounds like a great way to spend quality time xx
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have had a fun crafting time with friends - great way to spend a weekend and a good collection of cards as a result
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Liz and it sound like you had a great time crafting with friends too. I used to go to some lovely workshops run by the owner of a local craft shop, sadly the shop closed several years ago and she's now stopped running classes too. They were always good fun and a great way to learn new tecniques.

I think I know the craft shop you mean, Kath. I always used to visit the shop when we were down that way and there was often classes going on. It was a shame that it closed down. xx
DeleteTwo smashing Christmas cards and how lovely to get to craft with friends too. Super use of SNIPPETS aswell - a win/win!

Sounds like you have had a wonderful time and a marathon 9-9! The tree is a lovely design and your subsequent makes are also.
ReplyDeleteThree very pretty cards Liz and I love the look of the strips of paper on the first and second, and a great idea to tear the papers to get the white edge to make it look like snow, and then my favourite the silver glitter with the blue snowy background paper, the bauble shape is beautiful with the circle cut outs. It's lovely to be able to go to a craft group and it helps to get the card tally up too. x
ReplyDeleteA lovely trio of festive makes. Sounds like a fab crafty weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering the third card into the Snippets Playground. Meet you up in the treehouse for hot chocolate and some choc digestives xxx
Those torn layers of the tree look so pretty and the ornaments on the other two cards look so pretty with frosty colors and great use of those snippets of fun papers.
ReplyDeleteWhat FANTASTIC cards Liz xx
ReplyDeleteThose torn layers do look like snow Liz, a really lovely card. The other two are just as lovely. It sounds like an epic make day, what fun it must have been. x
ReplyDeleteGosh Liz - that certainly was a marathon! LOVE all the cards you've shown - the pale blue snippets one especially calls to me. It looks so preacful.

These cards are absolutely stunning! The way you've used the Memory Box 'Vesha Ornament' die and the Stampin' Up 'Greatest Part of Christmas' stamp set is so creative. I love the snowy effect you've achieved with the ripped card and the beautiful blue, snowy paper behind the aperture.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, a fabulous way to use up some of the thins snippets, or in my case the narrow strip from the edges of pages.... love the torn edge on your tree to make snow... Have a wonderful week....
