A birthday card today for my great nephew who turned 11 a few days ago. I love making fancy fold cards for him, as he enjoys working out how I made them. So this year I made a Double Tower Fold card. It measures 6" x 6" when folded and folds flat for posting.
Gilby loves to go rock climbing in an indoor rock climbing centre, so this Sheepski digi stamp 'Determination' was the perfect image for his card. I coloured the image with Promarkers and the sentiment is computer generated. I used a brick effect embossing folder for the middle and side panels.
I am joining in the following challenges with this card:
For my second card I used blue and white, my favourite colour combination for Christmas cards.
The blue card was a recycled file divider which was too good to throw away when I emptied the file. I found a snippet of textured white card and die cut a Sizzix snowflake. There was enough white card left over to cut a panel for the bottom. I added two snowflake brads to the white panel and a computer generated sentiment. The panel is raised up on foam tape. So a fairly quick CAS card to add to my pile of Christmas cards and two less brads in my brad mountain!

Two wonderful cards. Great job!

How lovely that your nephew enjoys the folded cards, this is a design I've not seen before and brilliantly done with an apt image for him too. Thanks for sharing with us at Allsorts challenge.
ReplyDeleteLove your snippet card - 2 brads less out of how many? lol!
Too many to count!! 🤣
DeleteNice cards. Although the rock climbing reminds me or torn rotator cuffs and labrum. Thank goodness he's young.
ReplyDeleteI remember when brads were so popular. I got rid of most of mine but still had to hang onto a few which I HAVEN'T used yet. Ugh! Maybe this will inspire me. Especially with such cute brads like yours. [Bunny]
Another lovely fold. Looks great with the climbing theme. Hugz
ReplyDeleteA great card for Gilby Liz and love the fancy fold, one I've not seen before, and the indoor climbing image is perfect, and a super personalised sentiment too. The blue background with added very pretty snowflake and complementary snowflake brads works beautifully for Becci's challenge too. I'm not sure I will be able to do the whole month but will certainly add some cards to my stash by entering a few at least. I certainly need to get on with them now we are in November. x
ReplyDeleteThat is a clever looking folded card and seems quite apt for the rock climbing hobby. Good to have a simple card to add to the Christmas pile and blue and white is always nice
ReplyDeleteWow, making a wall for him to climb on the card is so inspired. What a fun card! The snowflake is beautiful and looks lovely against that soft blue sky.
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful! Such a fun design on the first one and gorgeous Christmas card!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing with us this week at Allsorts challenge where it's all about "something for children or teens". Hope you'll join in again soon!

2 great cards Liz!
ReplyDeleteYou really are a pro at special fold / shaped cards, Liz! I tend to shy away from them myself (looks too much like math to me!), but I love seeing yours! Your great-nephew will get a kick out of the shape of this one, as well as the rock-climbing image! And your snowflake Christmas card is a stunner! Well done upcycling the blue file folder and making a wee teeny tiny almost imperceptible dent in your Brad Mountain! Keep safe! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteNow! that is one excellent card for a climber, he will LOVE it, so clever Liz. Your snowflake card is gorgeous, such a beautiful die.
