We're in the middle of another lockdown here in the UK. No mixing with other households and no 'non-essential' travel, whatever that is supposed to mean. It was my birthday last Wednesday, so no celebrating with friends and family. But hey ho, hubby and I are keeping safe and well and hopefully that will continue. Looking out of the window today, watching the rain pouring down and the listening to the wind howling, it's a perfect day for doing a bit of crafting and blog visiting.
Something different to share today, a little album I made for a craft swap. It's ready for the recipient to add their own photos.
Does anyone else keep all the little snippets of patterned paper from a paper pad after finishing a project? This seemed a perfect opportunity to use some of them up. All the papers were from a Dovecraft paper pad. A used a few whole sheets of 6 x 6 papers, but as all the sheets coordinated, I could use up lots of little snippets as well. Most of the patterns could go in either direction, which made it easier to use even small pieces. I added a little die cut butterfly (cut from another snippet) to the front and the album is kept closed with organza ribbon.
It opens to reveals lots of pages to decorate with photographs.
I am joining in the following challenges with my album:
Another Christmas card to share today.
I found a piece of card I'd coloured with alcohol inks some time ago and it seemed perfect for a winter night's sky. I used a Memory Box 'Quiet Cabin Landscape' die with white glitter card and added a little piece of yellow card behind the house to light up the windows. The sentiment is a Sue Wilson 'Merry Christmas Trim' die cut and I added tiny clear gems for the stars.
I am joining in the following challenges with this card:
Jingle Belles Challenge ~ Use a least one see-through element (Clear gems)
Your album and your card are just gorgeous, Liz! Love them both!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday (some days late)!
My husband and I had our 15th wedding anniversary two days ago, and we also had to celebrate alone. Everything is special this year.
All the best for you! Stay safe! And have a nice weekend!
Hugs, Liv

Hope you had an enjoyable Birthday Liz in spite of our current restrictions. What a fabulous mini album that is, such a lovely design with many pages for memories. Love the Christmas scene too xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little album Liz, this would make a lovely little gift for someone. Yes, I do tend to keep all the little snippets- I'm a terrible hoarder and hate to throw away something that 'might come in useful'.
ReplyDeleteLovely card with the peaceful winter scene too.
Belated Birthday wishes!
xx
Super album and great that you could use up lots of left over scraps of patterned paper. Great Cristmas card too - love that die and the sky is really effective

We're in the South West, so it looks like most of the country is probably having a wet and windy day. xx
DeleteBelated birthday wishes Liz,hope you enjoyed your day. Two fabulous projects, love your mini album,a great way to use up snippets of paper,Love the night sky on your Christmas card
ReplyDeleteI don't know if your non-essential travel means the same as ours did when we were in lockdown but we were only allowed to go to the supermarket, work if we were considered essential and out for exercise as long as it was within 5km of home. Each country probably has different definitions.
ReplyDeleteI am one who saves offcut pieces and have been trying to use some of them for Beccy's Challenge making some patchwork backgrounds on some extra cards. I have a few that I' still working on so they will make an appearance before the end of the month.
On to your card, I like the beautiful scene that you created. The sky is awesome.
We don't seem to have any rules on exactly how far we can travel for exercise. Everyone seems very confused with ever-changing rules and regulations. xx
DeleteWhat a fabulous a album, love the pretty colours and gorgeous papers. Great Christmas make too. great dies against a super background.

Absolutely gorgeous Liz! Both the album and your super Christmas card. It's been galling today to see a house opposite with the girlfriend of the female partner's son arriving for a 'sleepover - polite term' . Then she left this morning just before the son of the male partner, plus wife and baby arrived - followed by a single/widowed sister of the female partner! Err. is it me or are they just mocking the rest of us? I give up.
ReplyDeleteAnd huge thanks again for your lovely card!
Hugs

Did you see the photos of the protests in Bristol yesterday against the lockdown. No masks and many of them saying a virus is a hoax. 🙄 I give up!! Just wish there was another planet they could all live on! xx
DeleteYes Liz, I did see them and was almost banging my head on the desk here! Total madness. x
DeletePS I forgot to say what a lovely touch the glowing house windows are! x
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated birthday. Hopefully next year it will be SO much better. I love the album you made. Do you have instructions for it? I'd love to try and make this. Lovely Christmas card, too. [Bunny]

Both of your creations are fabulous Liz, well done! It sounds like it's been a perfect day for staying at home and crafting, despite the fact that you aren't allowed to leave. I hope it isn't long before the numbers are under control for you all again.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Cheers,
Beccy
