I was challenged to make a card in brown and white, not normally colours I put together. I usually put brown with cream, but this is what I came up with.
I started by layering a white piece of card, embossed with an Embossalicious 'Clouds' e/f, on a brown mat. I made the owl with a Stampin' Up 'Owl Builder' punch. (TIP - if you have this punch, tiny black peel off dots make perfect pupils and no glue needed. 😉) I sat the owl on MFT Die-namics 'Branch with Leaves' die cuts, raised up on very thin foam pads to add a little dimension. The leaves were die cut from an odd snippet of card I'd already coloured with several different brown Distress Inks. The sentiment is a stamp from the Happy Little Stampers 'Whimsical Friends' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Acorn'.

That is a great cloud background e/f and I am loving that acorn ink. Cute as can be.
ReplyDeleteI love your cute little owl on the branch. Great background too!
ReplyDeleteHi. That little owl is so cute! It's beautifully layered up on the embossed background too. I'm admiring the greeting, it's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe technique I used on my Twofer GD card is to emboss as usual, ink and let it all dry. Then you place card between sheets of copy paper and iron until the embossing melts and sticks to the paper. It sometimes takes a couple of sheets. Then you are left with the inking, it's really cool. x
This sounds a fun technique, Alison. I'll have to give it a try. xx
DeleteI would normally put brown with cream too but it does look lovely with white Liz. I like the cloudy background which gives the impression the owl is sitting high in the tree.
ReplyDeleteI love this card. I haven't seen this owl in a while. [Bunny]
