Masculine card

It was my hubby's birthday last Friday and this is the card I made for him.   I watched a video recently on a Facebook craft group, which gave me the inspiration for the fold.  I often make Alan a card with a football theme, so this time I decided to hide the football element inside.

I used blue card for the card base and kraft card for the mats. All the patterned papers were snippets from previous projects and came from the a Dovecraft 'True Blue' paper pad.   The sentiment was typed on the computer and die cut with a Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die.

The card opens up to reveal the football, die cut in black and layered on white. (Two more snippets)  The football was layered on a blue and white, quartered background (more snippets), embossed with a  Crafts Too 'Football' e/f.  The team Alan supports wears blue and white quarters.

I covered the back of the card with a square of white card, so I could write the message.  It made me smile when Alan opened the card and said it must have taken ages to make.  It did take a long time to make, but only because he regularly walked into my craft room when I was making it, so I kept having to cover it up and pretend I was making something else! 🤣

I am joining in the following challenges:

  1. A great idea tp hide the football inside the card - bet your husband was really thrilled with it. Had to smile at why it took you longer to make than it should have 😉

  4. Great fold and nice birthday card for your husband. I got a big surprise when I was expecting to see an American football and saw what we call a soccer ball. That just made me laugh. I hope he had a grand day. [Bunny]

    1. Interesting what different countries call football. I live in a country where rugby people like to call their sport football when the foot and ball doesn't make contact that much in the game! So we have some refer to football as soccer and some refer to it as football which can get confusing.

  6. Great football themed card Liz. I like how you managed to incorporate the club colours too. I bet your hubby doesn't normally pop in and out of your craft room but just because you needed him not to, he did!

  8. A great football themed card Liz! My hubby doesn’t often come into my craft room, probably because I’ve got stuff all over the floor, but he does have a nasty habit of asking if I’m coming downstairs yet, when I’ve only been up there for 20 minutes!

  11. I've been in your boat before, trying to hide surprises from my family members! Your card turned out awesome. I love the fold and the masculine colors. And your photos surprised me. I make football cards for my son and was expecting to see a football inside your card, and instead there was a soccer ball! 😄

Thanks for sharing with us at Cut it Up for our Masculine Card challenge!
