Polar Bear

I've been AWOL for nearly two weeks as I've been on holiday in Norway searching for the Northern Lights.  No luck finding the lights, but I did win the ship's flag for guessing the time we would cross the Arctic Circle.  When I've finished sorting out my photos, I'll post a few on my blog.

Beccy's Month of Holiday Cards is up the the letter P, so I've got some catching up to do.  (Actually it's up to Q as it's already tomorrow in Australia. 😉)  So my card today features a Polar Bear.

I started by making the background with snippets of red and green card.  I cut them into strips 1" wide and layered them onto a large white snippet of card, slightly smaller than the base card. When the glue was dry I embossed the stripy background with a Crafter's Companion 'Snowflakes' embossing folder, before attaching to the card base.  The image is a Hobby Art rubber stamp, 'Purdy the Polar Bear'. I coloured the image with Promarkers, adding some sparkle with a Wink of Stella glitter brush on the white parts of the hat.  I finished off my card with a sentiment and a snowflake brad.  The stamp is a new one, gifted to me by a friend, so I'll be sharing my card over in the NBUS Challenge.

I am joining in the following challenges:

  2. I love this sweet and lovely coloured polar bear Liz, and the red and green strips in the background look great embossed with the pretty snowflake EF, and a delightful sentiment and snowflake embellishment to finish it. How wonderful to visit Norway but sorry you didn't manage to see the Northern Lights but will look forward to seeing some of your photos. x

  6. Your bear looks lovely and warm Liz, the hat and scarf are fabulous. Great idea to emboss the strips of paper, it's a fabulous way to bring the different sections together and also gives a wonderful pattern.
Congratulations on winning the ship's flag, what a great memento!
    Cheers,

Re. the Northern Lights - great excuse to go again - our neighbours went more than once before they hit lucky! I bet the food was fabulous - smorgasbord Norwegian style - yummy! I seem to recall there were mountains of glorious prawns at every meal?

  21. First off I am so sorry I am so far behind in commenting once again...I don't know where the time goes, but I lose it all the time! Secondly, I'm so happy you got away for your birthday. Sounds like a lovely time, wish you could have seen the Northern Lights though. I'd love to see them as well, but it will probably never happen! lol So here goes, lots of commenting coming your way, most will probably be short as I've missed a lot! Love this cutie pie, who doesn't love a cute image of a polar bear?!! Love the traditional colors on this one! Hugs, Brenda
