A month or so ago, I saw a card on Carol of Our Little Inspirations blog HERE where Carol had inlaid one of the Memory Box intricate butterflies. I loved the effect, so I played around with a butterfly and tag die cut and some coloured snippets of card and the result has been sat on my craft table for about six weeks, waiting for some inspiration of what to do with it! So today, after seeing that the current Color Throwdown Challenge is red, yellow, blue and white, I decided to turn it into a card.
The Memory Box butterfly is called 'Vivienne', which I die cut in black and attached to a white Poppystamps 'Stitched Main Street Tag', matted on a slightly larger black tag. I used the butterfly die again with snippets of red, yellow and blue, inlaying the pieces into the black butterfly. I put small red and black circles at the top of the tag and five clear gems to add a bit of bling.
I am joining in the following challenges:

Great idea for a snippets card and the other challenges as well. It certainly takes some patience to pop all those inlay bits back into the dies!
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly worth the time popping all those little coloured bits back into the butterfly Liz its gorgeous and so colourful...

I have this gorgeous butterfly die and have never thought to do this technique with it. It looks contemporary and so clever. Love that you used several colours and then popped the butterfly onto the tag. The stripes down the left finish the card off beautiful. Loving this one Liz x

Glad it's all sorted now. xx
DeleteThis is gorgeous,love the image.xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely vibrant butterfly. So does that mean that you have enough of the colours left over to make more butterflies flies up in a different colourway. Love the vertical panels of colour running down the side of the card too. Thankyoy for fluttering into the butterfly garden. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteNot this time, as I'd only die cut one black outline. I think next time I'll cut out three in black, then when I cut the other colours, I can put some of each colour in each outline.....well that the plan, I'm not sure it will work! LOL! xx
DeleteWhat a great design, fab idea to create the stained glass effect butterfly and love the tag shape too.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kaz xx
