The Allsorts Challenge this week is 'A Question of Sport'. I make lots of football related cards, so I thought I'd make something different this time. My hubby went out running today, I know......who would choose to go out running in this heat! However, it gave me the inspiration to dig out an old wood mounted stamp with a runner.
The image is a Paper Nation stamp, 'Running Man', which I stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured with Promarkers. For the embossed background I used a Creative Expression 'Textured Linen' e/f. I think black embossed card card be even more tricky to photograph sometime than metallic card! I cut a scalloped strip across the middle so I could add the sentiment. I was tempted to add a little embellishment in the top right-hand corner, but decided to leave it as it is so I can add an age if needed, or just send it as it is.
I am joining in the following challenges with this card:
I started with a square, black card blank. The Happy Little Stampers set of stamps I used is called 'Wish you were here'. I stamped the London skyline image and sentiment with Versafine 'Black Onyx'. I love all the detail in the image. For the embossed background I used a Couture Creations folder, 'Jo Jo'.
I am joining in the following challenges with this card:
Even seeing a runner on a card makes me feel hot today - I'm hibernating! Two great cards and good choice of stamps for your win.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeletewhat brilliant cards and their designs are so super.
I thought the running man was Paper Nation as I have the decoupage set.
Didn't know they did stamps also.
Love the stamped image on the second it's brilliant.
Your hubby is mad in this weather. LOL.
Still if it's what he loves then he must do what he loves.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
I've got a few of the Paper Nation stamps, all wood mounted and bought quite a few years ago in a sale. I think they're probably discontinued now. xx
DeleteGreat cards Liz! I love the textured backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards Liz. Running in this heat? Is he MAD? Makes me want a cold shower just THINKING about it!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sarn xxx
Congratulations on your recent win Liz. You chose some goodies. They're two super cards. I can't imagine anyone choosing to run in this hot weather. Your hubby must be very fit. Barbxx

I would be sick running with this heat...but the card is a beauty! Just as your 2nd one; love that London skyline amd it looks so elegant this way! Keep cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat image of the runner and one not seen very often. Super colours too.
ReplyDeleteLove your second as well.
Thank you for joining our 'Question of Sport' challenge once again over at Allsorts.

Both cards are so well made and fun, especially the 2nd one with a carnival scene! Love the embossing and I'm sweating already just thinking of anyone running in this heat! AACK!!
ReplyDeleteSuper cards, I love the clean lines of your London Skyline... it lets the image standout x
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Liz. I love the Paper Nation runner and the black, red and white looks wonderful, the textured linen embossing does show up beautifully and gives a great effect. The second with the London skyline stamp really lends itself to black and white, and I adore the embossed background you have used here too. x
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, Liz, as always! The first one is perfect for a guy & how I love the dry embossing on the second one!
ReplyDeleteYour red and white card is very striking Liz and perfect for our theme this week, many thanks for joining our Sports challenge at Allsorts this week.
ReplyDeleteThe second card is a great CAS example.

Is it sad that I recognised the runner as being Paper Nation before you told us?! Fabulous cards, at least with the black embossed you don't need to worry about your reflection in it.
ReplyDeleteNo reflection, but difficult to see the embossing....... I wonder what black metallic embossed card would be like to photograph? 😉 xx
DeleteCongratulations on your HLS goodies, Liz. You've done a fantastic job creating a card with them for the Addicted to Stamps challenge. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteYes, your husband is a weirdo , sorry for you, but at least you've made two fabulous cards! The running man has a really characterful face, doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteAs to your London card - how crisp and elegant! I always love a London theme - I see it as my home town as I lived there for so long and still commute in- although where I work, the landmarks seem far away! Thanks for entering at City Crafter.
Thank goodness I spotted your gorgeous London Skyline card in the Addicted to Stamps gallery, because for some reason this post never appeared in my blog feed! It's a really lovely card, so bold and striking and absolute CAS perfection

ReplyDeleteApplauding your husband's commitment to running, despite the heat! The only exercise I get when the temperatures are soaring (or plummeting) is crafting *grin* Wonderful that he inspired you to bring out your runner stamp; it's fabulous! As for your London skyline card: lovely! A wonderful showcase of your new HLS image! So glad you shared this gem in the ATSM CAS challenge!
