I love making cards with different folds, so when I saw a 'Fun Fold Workshop' advertised locally for yesterday, I decided to go along with a crafty friend. Today I made this card at home, which is based one of the folds. I've no idea what the fold is called and as I've changed quite a bit of the original design, it probably hasn't got a name! The card I made at the workshop is at the bottom of this post, so you can see how my card was supposed to look.
I made a baby card in neutral colours, so it would be suitable for a boy or a girl. All the patterned paper is from a Dovecraft 'Baby Steps' paper pad. This is how the card looks when it's folded. I made a belly band to keep it closed adding some baby feet from a Sue Wilson set of dies and a couple of punched hearts. The sentiment is cut from a piece of the patterned paper.
When the card is opened the inside becomes the front. The elephant is a Tonic 'Adorable Elephant' die cut, layered on a white Memory Box 'Stitched Square'. The three little hearts are the waste from another die cut.
This photo shows how the card stands up.
This is the back of the card, although when the card is folded the patterned panels becomes the front. I added a white panel, layered on yellow, down the middle for the message.
I am joining in the following challenges with this card:
This was the original card I made at the workshop. The plain panels were for the message, which would be the first thing seen when the card is taken out of the envelope. For the elephant card, I didn't want the message to look like it's on the front.
All the patterned papers are from Stampin' Up and I think they are called 'Magnolia Lane'. This shows the front of the card when it's open.....
.....and this is the back of the card.
WOW! Such fab makes - loving the yellow and grey combo and fabulous folds on your makes too

What a fabulous fold Liz, I haven't seen this before. I love the colours you have used for your baby card.

Two fabulous folds Liz and I think yours is better as I don't think personally I would want to see the message first on taking it out of the envelope, but it's horses for courses I know, so I think you design is better. The colours of the baby card are as you say perfect for either a boy or a girl and a wonderful choice of papers and images, and the SU papers and flower image are very pretty too. x
ReplyDeleteA two sided card, how clever. The use of colors make this an appropriate card for girl or boy. Especially useful when given early and gender is unknown. Clever design. Thank you for playing with 2CCC.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are stunning!! I love the fabulous fold!! The designs are beautiful!! Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)
