Owl Card

A card I made for a card swap, posted yesterday with a second class stamp and arrived today.  Pretty good service from the Royal Mail this week.

I must admit, I love owls and when I saw this Sweet Dixie 'Large Owl Applique Patchwork Square' die in a craft store recently for a really good price, it jumped into my basket!  So last weekend it had it's first outing.  I used the die with white card and coloured in the leaves with a green Promarker.  I used a snippet of brown card and die cut just the owl, snipping off any odd bits around the owl.  I attached the brown owl over one in the main die, so it would be slightly raised up.  To bring the card to life, I added the eyes.  The pupils are tiny peeloff dots, which are so much easier to use than trying to stick on tiny black card circles.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

A second card to share today, following a sketch on the Creative Minds, Kind Hearts Facebook page.
The background was embossed with a Lisa Horton's 'Padded Quilt' e/f and layered over a purple mat. The middle folded part was made with a snippet of double sided paper.  I stamped the sentiment heart on a square of white card, coloured it with Promarkers and attached it to the centre of the folded part.  Three pearls finished off my card.

  1. Two very different square cards and love so much especially the first one, your new die is fabulous and that little owl so cute! I think this die is also very versatile, you could cut out the square with the owl and having two lovely pieces to use in different designs.
The second card looks so lovely with the particular folding around the heart and that beautiful elegant EF!

  3. Also love Owl's, just make you smile, I do very much like the second one as well, thanks for sharing with us at Allsorts.

Thanks for your message re Blogger, like you I get several in in the junk folder and from those who are regular visitors. I checked for your previous one but it wasn't there so no idea about that one. Needless to say it's one of those questions Blogger prefer to ignore, but I am going to follow it up.

Started in reverse today and going through my reading list but know that means I won't get many challenge comment's through, horrid decisions to be forced to make.

  4. Two delightful cards and what a brilliant owl die with that fancy surround. Owls are always appealing aren't they. Also love the quilted effect of the second one using that great embossing folder and the fancy fold.
