More birthdays.........

There's something about silhouette stamps that I just love.  This time I'm using another of my Little Claire silhouette stamps - 'Do all the things...' for a friend's birthday card. I rarely use yellow as the main colour for a background, so I thought I'd take myself out of comfort zone today.

Little Claire's Monthly Challenge ~ Spots & Stripes

Just time to make another Spring Fold birthday card today.  It's for a friend who likes sheep and as she's Welsh, I used a red, green and white theme - the colours on the Welsh flag.

Spring Fold Card

I saw the instructions for a Spring Fold Card in the latest issue of 'Quick Cards made easy' magazine.  I've not tried this fold before, but it looked the perfect fold for a 40th birthday card I needed to make this week.  I altered the dimensions slightly to make the diamond shape slightly larger than in the original instructions, so it would be the right size for the stamp I wanted to use.  The image was coloured using Promarkers and a green Wink of Stella glitter pen.

Another 'male' card...

It seems to be a busy time of year for birthdays!  This time I needed to make a card for a man. I hope he has a sense of humour!
The image is a Woodware 'Bad Hare Day' stamp and I used my Stampin' Up fringe scissors to give a border down the side.  The card was finished off with Card Candi.

Owl Tree Silhouette

For today's card I used the lovely Little Claire's Owl Tree Silhouette stamp.  Although not a crafter herself, my daughter, Joanna,  gave me this stamp for Mothers Day in March - I've trained her well to choose something crafty instead of flowers!  I will be sending the card to a friend for her 60th birthday this coming week.  I haven't made a Joy Fold card for quite a while, so I played around with the sizing to fit the stamp and ended up with a 7" x 5" card, using two brads to keep the card closed.

This photo shows how the card opens.

Special Occasions

Here are a couple more cards I made this week.  I was asked to make an A5 70th Birthday Card, to include the Tangent logo.  I kept the whole card to the colour scheme of blue and yellow, and after a few false starts, this is what I produced.

The second card was for Alan to send to Downend Tangent, on behalf of Downend 41 Club, on the occasion of their 45th Charter.  Again, I included the Tangent logo and made the card A5 size.  I used one of my favourite embossing folders, as it has a more subtle pattern than the usual Swiss Dot pattern I use.

Now to think of a design for a 60th birthday card for a friend's birthday next week......

Window Gatefold Card

Another month and few more special birthday cards to make.  The first is for a friend's 70th birthday this week, so I thought I'd use one of my Lavinia stamps and enter it for this month's challenge 'Birthday Girl'.  I guess you're never too old to be a birthday girl!  I decided to make a gatefold card with an aperture to show off the lovely stamped image, which I coloured in with Promarkers. I used a silver Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to paint the wings to add a bit of sparkle. Although I've made gatefold cards before, I wanted to make it a little bit different and I was really pleased how it turned out.
