Snippets, scraps or offcuts?

Snippets, scraps or offcuts, whatever you call them, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has a mountain of them in every possible colour. So, today I'm sharing three cards using some of my snippets.  The first two I've CASE'd after watching a couple Nifty Noodles Crafting videos.

The patterned paper was snippets from a 12 x 12 paper pad from The Range.   With such large sheets, there are always snippets left over when I cut into a new one, so expect to see more cards using these papers.  The petals are just squares with two opposite corners corner-rounded.  The sentiment is a SU stamp.  Three die cut flowers centres, three tiny white pearls and three sequins finished off my card.

I have quite a few old black and white paper pads and these snippets were from a few different pads, I think.  I put my own twist on this one as I messed up the herringbone pattern.  I put a strip of ribbon across the card.  The SU punched oval shapes were raised up on foam pads and the sentiment is a SU stamp. When I'd finished, the pattern didn't look quite right, so I added the three tiny red pearls in a diagonal line to balance up the card.   I added an extra three little red pearls along the bottom.

I am joining in the following challenges with this card:

My last card uses just a snippet of green card for the Lisa Horton's 'Slimline Inverted Scalloped Frame' die cut.   The image is the front of a shop bought birthday card I received last year.  I trimmed the image to a little smaller than the frame and attached the frame over the top, before attaching it to the card blank.  I stamped a sentiment, layered it on a snippet of green card and raised it up on foam pads.

Golden Wedding

Yesterday was my brother and sister-in-law's Golden Wedding Anniversary and this is the card I made for them.

I used a Marianne Designs cross-stitch die and die cut again into a circle with a Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layer' die.  The stitched design was done with crochet cotton.  I layered the finished design on a Memory Box 'Stitched Scalloped Circle' die cut.  For the embossed background I used Creative Expressions 'Heart Lattice' embossing folder.  The sentiment was done on the computer and I finished off my card with six white, pearl hearts.

Afternoon Tea

I was asked to make several invitations for an Afternoon Tea and these are two designs I came up with.

For this card I embossed a panel with an old Cuttlebug embossing folder and layered it on a deep yellow mat.  The cup cake was made with a SU punch.  The top was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and raised up on foam pads.  I used Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' die cuts for the mats.  The little hearts were the waste from a die cut used on a card previously.

For my second card, I used the same Cuttlebug cupcake embossing folder.  I used a strip of  cupcake ribbon across the card, layered on yellow and green mats.

Upcycling

A quick and easy Christmas card, using a little upcycling.

I die cut the front of the shop bought card card we received last year, using a die from the Lisa Horton 'Scalloped Layered Squares' set.  The mat is gold mirror card, die cut using a die from the same set.   I add three gold sequin and my card was finished.

70th Birthday

A birthday card for a friend who will be celebrating her 70th birthday soon.  She collects anything sheep related, so I usually make her a card with a sheep on.

The pre-coloured image is 'Warm and Woolly' from Beccy's Place.  The patterned paper is from The Works and the flower is a die cut from Lisa Horton's first box kit.  The thin panel near the bottom is a die cut from Lisa Horton's 'Stitched Lines' set and I added three pale green pearls.

Gardening

A masculine card for a relative who will be celebrating his birthday this week

The background is embossed with a Leane Creatief  'Garden Tools Small' e/f and layered on a lighter green mat.  The spade, rake and fork  are Leane Creatief  'Garden Tools'  die cuts, using silver mirror and dark brown card, although the handles look black in the photo. The double layered sentiment is raised up on foam pads.  The Allsorts Challenge is celebrating their 13th birthday this week, so pop over to their blog and join in their birthday celebrations.

Sparkly Anniversary

An Anniversary card for my box of ready-made cards.

The die cut is a die from the Spellbinders 'Lace Hearts' set, cut in silver glitter card.  I backed the silver heart with a plain white heart because I didn't want the embossing showing through the little apertures.  The heart is raised up on foam pads.  The cut a white and a silver glitter card for the panels and embossed them with  a Creative Expressions 'Hearts On A String' 3D embossing folder.  I finished off my card with a little red heart shaped pearl.

Sparkle

A bit of sparkle today.

I made the scalloped layers with Hobbycraft 'Duck Egg' and 'Dark Duck Egg' glitter card, using Lisa Horton's 'Scallop Layered Rectangles' dies. The flower is a Memory Box 'Fuchsia Sprig' die cut. I used a Lisa Horton's 'Padded Quilt' embossing folder to add some texture to the top layer. A layered sentiment finished off my card.

I used Memory Box 'Prim Poppy' and 'Lucienne Tile' die cuts and added a layered sentiment.

Sketch

Two cards to share today, following a sketch in a Facebook group I'm part of.  The group is called 'Creative Minds II Kind Hearts' which is a place for sharing papercraft creations.  There are regular sketches and fancy folds to try, as well as card swaps and lots of other inspiration. It's a lovely group to be part of, so if you are on Facebook and want to join the group, pop over to the 'Creative Minds II Kind Hearts' page and answer a couple of joining questions... don't forget to say that I sent you. 😉 It would be lovely to see you there.

Although my favourite colour is purple, I do love making blue and white cards. All the patterned paper was snippets, I think from an old Papermania paper pad and I hand cut the ends of the banners. The circles were die cut with Spellbinder dies and the white circle embossed with a Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' e/f.  I raised the layered circle up with foam pads.  A sentiment and three pearls finished off my card.  All the paper and card, apart from the card blank, was snippets so I'll be sharing my card over in The Playground.

My second card is following the same sketch and I thought the papers from The Range would be suitable for a masculine card.

Make a Wish

A birthday card today.

The silhouette stamp is Lavinia 'Fairytale' stamped with Versafine Clair 'Nocturne' and layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die cuts.  The background was embossed with a Embossalicious 'Make a wish' e/f and the sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set.  The layered sentiment is raised up on foam pads. I added some sparkle with a Wink of Stella clear glitter pen over the fairy's wings and the flowers in her hair, although it doesn't show up very well in the photo.  Three sparkly green gems finished off my card.

Stitched Penguin

Using one of my favourite dies again today as I love including cross-stitching on my cards.  This die is actually the tag die I used for one of the cards in my last post.  This time I cut off the top of the tag to make it into a rectangle so I could make a Double Z Fold card.  This card will be going later in the year to a friend who loves penguins.

I used a MFT 'Cross-Stitch Tag' die and the cross-stitching was done with crochet cotton.  The embossing folder Sheena Douglass' - 'Water Ripples'.  The patterned paper was an odd sheet from my stash.

Twofer

Many of my followers will know that I am a football (soccer) supporter and often make football themed cards in blue and white. Yesterday we watched our team play the last game of the season.  What a game!  We needed a miracle to get automatic promotion and a miracle is exactly what happened when we scored 7-0, just what was needed.  Apologies to those reading this who have no interest in football, but we are still on Cloud Nine!

The Allsorts Challenge this week is 'Favourite stamps and/or dies'.  How do you choose your favourite, it's like being asked to choose you favourite child! 🤣

I decided to choose two dies.  The first is a Presscut 'Centre Stepper Card' die.  I used to make this style with a craft knife and it was a real game changer to find a die which does the work for you.  The second die is a Memory Box 'Chloe Stem' which I've had for years but it's still one of my favourite floral dies.  The patterned paper is from a paper pad from The Range and I finished off my card with a sentiment and two white pearls.  I've just realised that I've covered up one of the pearls with my watermark...Oops!

A second card to share today.  This time a masculine card made for a friend's birthday.  I rarely use any sort of stitching on a masculine card, but thought this cross-stitch design of a glass of beer would be perfect to make into a card.
The background is embossed with a Crafter's Companion 'On Your Birthday' embossing folder.  The tag is a MFT 'Cross-Stitch Tag Die-namics' set of dies and a used crochet cotton for the stitching.

For You

The Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme 'Anything Goes'.  We are sponsored this month by SheepSki Designs.

Our sponsor kindly gave the DT digi stamps to work with and I chose to use 'For You'.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and layered it on a grey mat.  The patterned paper is from The Works and I think the embossing folder is a Creative Expressions one.  I added a strip of ribbon on a grey mat, before attaching the layered image with foam pads.  A sentiment and few silver sequins finished off my card.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th May.  Please pop over to the challenge blog to see all the beautiful cards the DT have made this month.

We visited a beautiful Woodland Gardens this week, which were only a short drive away.  They are only open for six weeks of the year and until recently we didn't know they were there.  The rhododendrons and bluebells were amazing.

Nautical Scene

I'm still getting a number of genuine comments every day in my spam folder. It would appear that I'm not the only one with this problem, so it might be worth checking the spam folder on your blog to see it you have any genuine comments there.

A masculine card today for a friend who celebrated his birthday recently.

The nautical scene was die cut three times using snippets of white and two shades of blue.  The blue pieces were inlaid into the white outline and layered on a red mat.  The patterned paper was from a Trimcraft 'Sail Away' paper pad.

Bay Window Card

A Bay Window Card made for a card swap.  The recipient loves dogs so this was the theme of my card.

The image is a die from a Spellbinders "Pawing Around (Dog)" set.  I layered it on a plain cream heart so the embossing wouldn't show through. I used a Creative Expressions 'Pawprint Lattice' embossing folder for the background.  A strip of dog ribbon was added to the front.  The panel on the right was raised up on  foam tape, so that the card can stand up with the bay window.  A sentiment and five black pearls finished off my card.

I used a Poppystamps 'Dog Paw Border' die for the side panels, cut in cream cardstock with the red mat showing through.

Lavinia Scene

I'm not sure what's going on with Blogger.  I've just found 16 comments in my Spam, only two were genuine spam and the rest were from named craft bloggers, some had left comments on my blog before.  Very strange!

Two similar cards to share today.  Unfortunately the pink one never arrived, so it's probably in some dark corner of a Royal Mail building..... or perhaps it was delivered to the wrong address.  One of life's mysteries! 😉

I used a mask to create the ground and all the stamps and the stencil are from Lavinia.
