CAS Rosette card

The Less is More challenge this week is a sketch, such a simple design that I just kept the design in my head rather than drawing the sketch.  What a mistake that was..... I'd convinced myself that the diagonal line was corner to corner!  So, I've used a little artistic license and hope it still counts for the challenge.

The rosette is a Nellie Snellen folding die 'Flower 2', which I die cut twice to make the rosette.  The patterned paper is from a Dovecraft paper stack, pink with white stars, although they look more like dots in the photo.

Nativity

A Christmas card today, the first of a batch of cards I'm planning to make this weekend of this design.
The stamp is by Lavinia, stamped with a Versafine Onyx stamp pad.  The image is matted and layered using Memory Box 'Stitched Square' dies. The embossing folder I used for the background is 'Snowflake Lattice' by Sue Wilson.  Three black gems finished off my card.

There is still time to enter  Rudolph  Days  May Challenge , which closes on the last day of the month.  Just make a Christmas themed card or project and you could win a lovely prize.

Butterflies everywhere!

Two new followers to welcome today, Debbs of DJ Crafter and Kevin of McCrafty's Cards.  Thank you for following me,  I hope you visit again soon.

Onto today's birthday card, which I hope has reached its recipent.

I decided to make a box card with a circular aperture.  To make the box, I started with two pieces of apricot card, 7" x 5".   I scored each end of both pieces of cards at 1/2" and 1".  The circle of butterflies is the largest die from Spellbinders 'Butterflies Circles', with a die cut circle from the middle to create the aperture. The butterfly corners on the background are punched with a Dovecraft corner punch.  The butterfly in the centre is a Spellbinders die which cuts and embosses two butterflies, which can be layered.  Unfortunately this die was discontinued some time ago.  I've raised up the butterfly on foam pads.  The sentiments down the sides are computer generated.

This photo shows how the card is assembled.  It fold flat for posting.

BBQ Time!

Welcome to my new follower, Megan of My Merry Card Corner.  Thank you for joining me.

The Less is More challenge this week is 'Something that Pops or Bangs'.  This reminded me of the children's rhyme...

Ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan,
One went POP and another went BANG!....

The image is a digi stamp from Digi Stamp Boutique, which I coloured with Promarkers.  When I attached the image to the base card, it looked a little too CAS, so I added rows of small punched circles down the side.  It's my niece's husband's birthday next month.  This will be perfect for him, as he is a brilliant cook.

Thank You Card

I made this Joy Fold thank you card today for the friends who organised our holiday last week in Norfolk.   As we were staying on the Norfolk Broads, I wanted to make a card with a watery theme.
The Little Claire image is stamped with a Versafine ink pad.  The patterned papers are all by Anna Marie Designs.  I used Memory Box Stitched Circle and Rectangle dies to mat and layer the image and sentiment and the card is kept closed with a brad.

I was going to sneak in a last minute entry for The Craft Barn challenge, which I remembered was 'Sun', but when I went to link it up, I realised that it also had to included yellow or orange.  Oops!   However, the new challenge starting today is to use two different papers, so I'll be entering that instead.

This photo shows the card open.

I thought I'd include a photo of the view from the balcony of the house we stayed in for the week.  Such a peaceful place.

Birthday/Anniversary Calendar

This is my latest Fiskarettes DT project which I can post here, now that it's appeared on the Fiskarettes UK Facebook page.

It made me smile when someone made the sarcastic comment about my project on the Facebook page, "Pen, diary or calendar suffices???".  It's a bit like telling a knitter "Why bother to knit a jumper when you can wear a bin liner".   She obviously has never heard the saying....

"If you can't say something nice,
then don't say nothin' at all."

Anyway, there are lots of lovely projects my teamies have made, so I hope you've got time to pop over to the Fiskarettes UK Facebook page to see them.

So, back to my project.  I decided to make a calendar for birthdays and anniversaries which is easy to update.  It saves all the hassle of writing birthdays and anniversaries in new diaries or on calendars every year and it was really fun to make.  The panel at the top is inexpensive foam board I bought from Hobbycraft.  It's really lightweight and easy to cut.  I covered it in green card, embossing the ends with a Cuttlebug  'Swiss Dots' embossing folder.  The flowers are punched with a Fiskars 'Sunflower' punch. The tags are punched with a Fiskars 'Ticket and Curly' 3 in 1 tag maker.  I colour-coded the tags, yellow for female birthdays, blue for male birthdays and red for anniversaries.  The tags are joined together by hinged rings, so it's easy to add tags and keep them in the date order.

This is a close up of part of the calendar.  All the tags and circles were punched from snippets, so I'll be off to play in the Playground.....

Bowls

I've been AWOL for a week, enjoying a lovely holiday in a beautiful self-catering house on the Norfolk Broads, with five other couples.  The twelve of us have been taking an annual holiday together, in different parts of the country, since 1990.  How time flies!

Today's card was for the caretaker in the school where I used to teach.  He celebrated his 81st birthday last week and is still doing his job!
He still plays bowls regularly, so I thought this digi stamp from Digi Stamp Boutique would be perfect.  I coloured it with Promarkers.  The bowls at the bottom were made with black, punched circles.  I punched smaller yellow circles and used part of them to form the yellow circles on the bowls and added curved lines with a fine silver pen.  The bowls were attached with foam pads.  I used a Sizzix 'Dots' embossing folder for the background.

Recycling and Ruby

The Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is 'Butterflies + R is for Recycle and/or Ruby Red'.  So, I decided to use both Recyling and Ruby Red.

Searching for something to recycle,  I remembered some vertical blinds samples I had - I knew they would come in handy one day! I found two matching samples in a very pale beige and used them for the background.  I love the effect of the texture of the material.   I added a strip of card across the middle to hide the join.  The image is SB 'Flutter Tree', which cuts out perfectly with a metal shim.   I used  a Sue Wilson 'Noble Double Pinpoint Rectangle' die to die cut the rectangle and also used the side of largest die to cut a matching strip for the middle.

Cute Dalmation

A birthday card for a dog lover.

The cute, pre-coloured digi image is from Beccy's Place, one of the digi stamps from the 'Dog Tales Set'.  I embossed the top half of the background with a Sue Wilson 'Pawprint' embossing folder and used a paw print border punch to make a decorative strip across the middle.

Celtic Design

I saw a card at a craft fair recently, which using metal stencil with a Big Shot to emboss, then using inks to colour.  So, today I've been playing around with some of my stencils.  I googled to find the sandwich I need to emboss using the stencil. (Cutting plate, stencil, card, embossing mat, cutting plate.  I left one of the flaps on the platform down.)
I used one of the embossed patterns on this card, made with a Dreamweaver stencil.  The embossing doesn't show up very well on the photo, but it's really raised IRL.  I used Adirondack 'Aqua' and 'Purple Twilight' ink pads.

Happy Anniversary

A second card today.  Friends are celebrating their wedding anniversary later this month, so I thought I'd make their card today and sneak in a last minute entry for The Craft Barn Challenge.  The Dies R Us challenge is 'Anniversary', so I'll be entering that challenge too.
I die cut a panel on the right hand side of a card blank with a Poppystamps 'Side Lattice' die and adhered a strip of acetate behind it.  Punched red hearts and white pearl hearts were added to the lattice panel.  The patterned paper is from a DoCrafts paper stack and I added a thin strip of black glitter card to give a bit of sparkle.

This photo shows the card open.  I used snippets for the black glitter strip and the hearts, so I'll be off to share my in the Playground

Red, white and a little black

The challenge over on The Craft Barn blog is 'Red, White and a little Black' and it's not long before the challenge ends!
The dies I've used for my card are Memory Box 'Lucienne Tile' and 'Chloe Stem'.  Tiny, black pearls were added to both die cuts.  The sentiment is attached with foam pads.

Sunflowers

 A 'Get Well' card today.

The pre-coloured image and patterned paper are both freebies this month over on Beccy's Place Challenge blog.  The image was die cut with a SB Classic Oval die and matted on a SB Lacy Oval die cut.  I used a Fiskars Apron Lace border punch for the right-hand panel and added some Card Candi.

Angle Fold Card

This is another of my Fiskarettes DT projects.  I've always known this fold as an 'Angle Fold' as it's got four panels, but I know others call it a 'Z fold'.  Whatever it's called, I really like the fold.
The papers are by Anna Marie Designs and the plain one is pearlised, embossed with a Couture Creations 'Fireflies' embossing folder.  I used four Fiskars punches for this card, two daisies, a butterfly and the Rainbow border punch.  It would be lovely if you could pop over to the Fiskarettes UK Facebook page to see all the beautiful creations my teamies have been making.  There is also a 'Giveaway' there, for anyone living in Europe, to win a Fiskars Easy Stamp Press, a really useful little gadget. The competition closes tomorrow, so you've still got time to enter.

Patterned Poppies

DH was away in York last weekend, so having the house to myself for two whole days, I decided treat myself to two days of crafting.  However, things don't always go according to plan and I ended up on the sofa for two days with a pillow, a blanket, a box of tissues and several packets of Lemsip.....trying to shake off a flu-like bug.

Having finished off a few Fiskarettes DT projects, (photos coming later when they have appeared on the Fiskarettes Facebook page), I've finally had time to make a card for the Less is More Challenge, where the challenge is 'Designer paper in a CAS style'.  As I've used snippets of green and patterned paper, I'll be off to the Playground too.
The flower die is Memory Box 'Row of Poppies'.  I die cut the poppies in green and pink patterned paper from a Dovecraft paper stack, snipping of the pink flower heads and sticking them over the green ones.  The grass is two row of Die-namics  'Fresh Cut Grass- die cuts.

A second card today.  As DH has had his birthday, I can now post a photo of the card I made for him.
I've used the Spellbinders 'Happy Days' dies again for the base card and the scalloped border.  I can see this becoming one of my favourite dies!  Blue and white and a football theme was the most appropriate for DH. The front of the card is embossed with a Crafts Too football embossing folder.  The patterned paper is by Anna Marie Designs.
