Leaves

The Snippets Playground is celebrating its 500th Challenge this fortnight and there is a theme this time of 'Celebration'.  My youngest nephew celebrates his birthday next week, so I've made a card for him using snippets so I can join in the challenge.

A bought this Sizzix 'Artsy Leaves' set of dies last weekend.  When I saw them for sale for half price, I knew they had to come home with me.  I found a few snippets of textured brown paper in various shades and a snippet of matt gold card which came from the scrap store many years ago.  I die cut several leaves and chose five to attach to a piece of pale brown mottled card.  I used the matt gold card for the 'veins'.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Pinecone'.

I remembered to take a photo of the snippets I used. 😇

VW card

I tried a 'new to me' fold this week, a VW card or sometime called a WV card.

The papers are from The Works and all the mats are navy blue.  I stamped the wreath and sentiment with Versafine Clair 'Medieval Blue' on the front panel. Both stamps are from a Penny Black set.  The snowflake is from the Memory Box 'Twilight Snowflakes' set.

I left the middle panel blank for the message.  From above you can see the 'W' and the 'V' on the left hand side.  The card folds flat for posting.

Paper Hug

A CAS card made for a friend on the first anniversary of losing her husband.  I wasn't sure of the best sentiment to use, but thought this one was perfect.

The sentiment is a Stamp Market 'Paper Hug' die cut.  I bought the Embossalicious 'Spring Meadow' embossing folder in a charity shop recently and this is its first outing. I layered the embossed card on a pale green mat and the card was finished.

Flying Seagull Card

I made this card after watching a video on the Nifty Noodles Crafting Facebook page.  I've made a Flying Seagull card before, like the one HERE, but I like how the main panel is on the outside of the card when it's folded.

I bought a preloved Stampin' Up 'Honey Bee' set of stamps and dies recently and used them for the first time on this card.  Unfortunately, there was a small scratch on the rubber of the hive, which resulted in the stamp not stamping properly.  I used a little wooden bee to cover the flaw in the stamping.  The hive was stamped with Versafine Claire 'Sand Dune' and the sentiment with 'Portabello'. The pattern paper is from The Range.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Shades of Blue

It's my turn to introduce a new Allsorts Challenge today and I've chosen the theme of 'Shades of Blue'.  It would be lovely to see the challenge blog flooded with blue creations, but there is always the option of 'Anything Goes'.  I've made two DT cards for the challenge.

I stamped the Lavinia 'Fairytale' stamp with navy ink, on a die cut square.  I used a Lavinia 'Feather Leaf' stencil to gently stencil over the image with Adirondack 'Stonewashed' ink.  I added some sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen on the fairy's wings. The long panel was embossed with an Embossalicious 'Make a wish' embossing folder.  I used two shades of blue for the mats.  The Woodware sentiment is stamped in navy.

My second card is a masculine card, made for my nephew.
The white frame was made with a MFT 'Stitched Diagonal Cover-up' die and I added three small punched stars.  The patterned papers are from Anna Marie Designs.

There are two lovely prizes of Lavinia Stamps and stencil to be won. Please note, we (Lavinia) cannot provide exchanges/replacements/refunds for any products received through this third-party giveaway.

Pyrography

I returned home on Sunday after a few days in Derbyshire with my hubby.  After attending a short pyrography workshop locally last December, I signed up for an all day pyrography workshop with Bob Neill in Derbyshire.  I remember seeing Bob demonstrating at the big craft show in the NEC Birmingham many years ago.  It's been on my wish list for a long time to attend one of his workshop.  What an amazing day I had on Saturday!  I learnt so much about the craft and with just two of us in the group (not my 'uncrafty' hubby, I hasten to add 🤣), we had lots of individual attention.

We started by practising different techniques on small plaques.

We then progressed to decorating a spoon.

Our final project was to decorate a cheeseboard.

If you ever fancy learning the craft of pyrography, I can't recommend Bob highly enough.  The course was held in Bob's home and included a delicious lunch prepared by his lovely wife, Del.  I now have my own machine and look forward to hopefully developing my pyrography skills.

Pop Out Card

I watched a video recently on Lisa Shaw's Nifty Noodles Crafting Facebook page demonstrating this fold.  After folding the card, I flipped the card over so the middle bits pop forward rather than backwards as it seemed to suite my decorations better.

I started with a 6" x 6" card blank.  Lisa used a craft knife and ruler to cut the two slits.  As I'm pretty rubbish with a craft knife, I kept the card blank folded, drew a pencil line where the slit needed to go and cut it with scissors, starting at the fold.  The patterned paper is from The Works, I bought two of these 12" x 12" paper pads ages ago and they seem to be lasting forever!  I used a Cheery Lynn 'Sunflower' die for the large flowers and punches for the small flowers. The leaf tendrils are Poppystamps 'Ivy Tendrils' die cuts.  I stamped a sentiment from the Stampin' Up 'Boho Indigo' set, using a Versa Color 'Turquoise' inkpad.  The sentiment square and mat are Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die cuts.   The card folds flat for posting.

Everything apart from the card blank was snippets, so I'll be sharing my card in the Snippets Playground.

Allsorts Challenge ~ Romance/Music/AG

This is my second post today.  Please scroll down to see my Crafty Calendar Challenge DT post.

A new Allsorts Challenge begins today and Gail has chosen the theme of 'Romance/Music'.  As always there is also the option of Anything Goes. With Valentine's Day coming up this month, I've gone with the Romance theme and this is the card I've made for my hubby.

The papers are from The Range. The red panels are embossed with an Xcut  'Small Polka Hearts' embossing folder. The heart on the belly band was a die cut from the Sue Wilson 'Laced Heart' set.

This is the inside of the card. I die cut the sentiment panel with a die from the Spellbinders 'Lace Hearts' set and added a little die cut heart from the Sue Wilson 'Mr and Mrs'. The back of the card is blank for the message.

There are beautiful stamps and stencils (random selection) from AALL and Create to be won for this challenge.

Crafty Calendar Challenge ~ Hearts

It's the first Saturday of the month, so time for the February Craft Calendar Challenge.  The theme this month is 'Hearts'.

I used Memory Box circle/scalloped circle dies to make my easel card.  The heart was die cut using matt silver card and I added five tiny clear gems.

I embossed the base of the card with an Xcut 'Small Polka Hearts' embossing folder.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge end on 28th February, so plenty of time to join in the challenge with your heart themed creations.  There will be a lovely prize of two stamps for the lucky randomly chosen winner.
