Sewing Gnome

A birthday card today I made for the friend who loves sewing.

The Woodware 'Sewing Gnome' was stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured with Promarkers.  The frame is a Lisa Horton 'Inverted Scallop Frame' die cut.  The layered die cut sentiment is raised up on foam pads to add some dimension.

Swirled Circles

A card today using up lots of snippets of Christmas patterned paper.

The patterned paper pad was from The Works.  It was much easier to make than it looks,  just two sets of four circles of different sizes layered together, then cut in half.  This was enough to make two cards.   At least it should have been easy if I hadn't used paper with a directional pattern!  I had to remake one set or the Christmas trees would have been upside down.  Lesson learnt! The sentiment strip was from the same paper pad.  I added a few red pearls to finish my card.

Cross Stitched Card

A card I made for a card swap, which I can post now that I know it's been received.

I used a Marianne Designs cross stitch die in cream card and die cut again with a Spellbinders 'Lacey Squares' die.  I used crochet cotton to stitch the design.  I layered the lacey square on a Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die cut.  The cream embossed background was done with a Spellbinders 'Dainty Dots' embossing folder.  The sentiment is raised up on a foam pads and layered over a strip of ribbon.

Crafting with Friends

In my last post, I said I'd share some of the cards I made when I was crafting with friends last Saturday.  Everyone did their own thing, most people were scrapbooking or working on their art journals.  I took along my Lavinia stamps and stencils to make some sympathy cards, as I like to have a few ready made for the sad occasions when they are needed.  I used Woodware sentiment stamps.  The flowers were watercoloured using the same Distress ink pad mixed with a splash of water.

Last Wednesday I met with a few different friends to have a go at Button Art.  None of us had done it before and this is my effort.  I saw a couple of examples online of a basic house shape so decided on this for my design.  I thought of an appropriate sentiment and printed it out before I started.  The red heart is a punched shape.  Little pearls and gems were added in the spaces between the buttons.  I layered the completed picture on a navy mat, before framing.

Fancy Fold

I had a lovely day today crafting with friends.  I managed to make four cards, which I'll take a photo of later.  If we didn't spend so much time chatting and laughing, I probably would have made more!

Another fancy fold card to share today, following instructions on the Nifty Noodles Crafting Facebook page.  I decided to add a tag on my card as the focal point.

The card folds flat for posting.

Card recipe:
Patterned Paper ~ Trimcraft 'Love Letters'
Dies ~ Poppystamps 'Main Street Tags' and Lisa Horton's flower die from the first box kit
Sentiment Stamp ~ Stampin' Up 'Best Year'
Enamel dot
Ribbon

For my Valentine

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

This is the card I made for my hubby.
The card shape was made with a Press Cut 'Step Card' die and I embossed the side panels with an Xcut 'Small Polka Hearts' e/f. I used a cute Bugaboo digi stamp, which I coloured with Promarkers.  Unfortunately Bugaboo have closed their website down, so this digi stamp is no longer available.  I finished off my card with two  brads.

Butterflies

A CAS card to share today.

I used a  Memory Box 'Sylvan Corner' die and added a few Sizzix cut and embossed little butterflies.  The flight trails were added with a fineliner pen.  Five tiny white pearls along along the peach coloured panel finished off my card.

Stitched Flower

I made this card for a card swap.  The cross stitching was done with crochet cotton as I find it easier to use than embroidery thread on the the die cuts.

Card recipe:
Die ~ Marianne 'Cross Stitch Border'
Embossing Folder ~ 8" x 8" (Unsure of the brand, possibly Crafter's Companion)
Red Card Candi
Crochet cotton for cross stitching

When I was asked by a friend who will soon be 94 years young to make her some cards, how could I say no?  She used to be an English teacher and loves to send handwritten letters and cards.  She asked me if I could make her cards for any occasion, so I made her a dozen. I decided on a few designs and made them in different colourways.

Dandelion Wishes

I was delighted to be invited to be a Guest Designer for the February Stamping Sensations Challenge, which begins today.  The theme this month is 'Anything stamped with option of Wings or Tails’.  I decided to make a Tower Card, using one of the Lavinia fairies.

I made the background using a Distress Oxide 'Picked Raspberry' inkpad and a Lavinia 'Feather Leaf' stencil.  The fairy is Lavinia's 'Josie' and I added a Lavinia 'Mini Meadow Mushroom'.   The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Positive Thoughts' set.

The card folds flat for posting and measures 6" x 6" when folded.

Time to Party!

The Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme 'Anything Goes'.  Our sponsor this month is Paper Nest Dolls with a prize of three digi stamps for the lucky, randomly drawn winner.

Our sponsor kindly gave the DT images to work with and I chose to use 'Party Chicks'.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and used a Couture Creations 'Fireflies' embossing folder for the background.  The balloons are a Trimcraft First Editions 'Birthday Party' die.  I die cut the balloons in white and used the same purple Promarker that I used for the main image.  The strings were drawn with a fineliner pen.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th February.  Please pop over to the challenge blog to see all the beautiful creations the DT have made.

Tropical

I bought this die set last year in the Sizzix sale and I finally got round to using it.  The die cut toucan was a bit fiddly to make up and I did some creative snipping to make all the pieces fit.

The dies are from the Sizzix Thinlits 'Jungle Shadow Box' set.  The toucan and the circle frames are raised up on foam pads.  The stencil is from Lavinia Stamps, called 'Glory'.  I used Distress Oxides for the stencilling -  Wilted Violet, Fossilized Amber and Lucky Clover.
