Triangle Card

A birthday card today, using a dies from a new set of Lisa Horton's 'Nested Triangles'.

I started by die cutting a green triangle.  I attached the triangle to a card blank, with one of the long sides against the fold.  I then cut of the excess white card by hand.  I'm not sure it this was the best way of doing it, but it worked.  I used the next size die down in the set, die cut a yellow triangle and embossed it with a Lisa Horton's 'Weave' e/f.  The flower, leaf and sentiment were from the Lisa Horton's box magazine set.

Recycled Christmas Cards

The Rudolph Days April Challenge ends in a couple of days, so I made two Christmas cards today to join in the Challenge.  I seem to be behind in my plan to recycle more of the shop bought Christmas cards we received, so today I thought I'd get back on track and recycle a couple more.  Really quick and easy this time.  I trimmed both cards down, layered them on a mat and attached them to a card blank.

On the first card I used a dark silver glitter mat.....

..... and the second card has a black mat.  The silver background was part of the original card.

Masculine card

It was my hubby's birthday last Friday and this is the card I made for him.   I watched a video recently on a Facebook craft group, which gave me the inspiration for the fold.  I often make Alan a card with a football theme, so this time I decided to hide the football element inside.

I used blue card for the card base and kraft card for the mats. All the patterned papers were snippets from previous projects and came from the a Dovecraft 'True Blue' paper pad.   The sentiment was typed on the computer and die cut with a Memory Box 'Stitched Square Layers' die.

The card opens up to reveal the football, die cut in black and layered on white. (Two more snippets)  The football was layered on a blue and white, quartered background (more snippets), embossed with a  Crafts Too 'Football' e/f.  The team Alan supports wears blue and white quarters.

I covered the back of the card with a square of white card, so I could write the message.  It made me smile when Alan opened the card and said it must have taken ages to make.  It did take a long time to make, but only because he regularly walked into my craft room when I was making it, so I kept having to cover it up and pretend I was making something else! 🤣

Flip-It Card

After a week in our caravan in sunny Devon, we've been home since Monday and I've just realised that I haven't blogged since last weekend.   I've had a lot of cards to make this week,  but there has been no time to add them to my blog.  On the plus side, I had a hair appointment on Tuesday..... and I'm having my second vaccination next week! It's the little things at the moment that seem so important.  Back to my card, which I made recently for a card swap.

I used  Sizzix 'Triple Circle Flip-its' dies for the card base, scalloped border and circles.  The flowers were made with Sue Wilson's 'Petite Forget Me Nots' dies, with tiny white pearls in the middle.  I added a strip of ribbon down the side, the colours matching perfectly with the colours in the patterned paper.

The card swings open to stand up.

On the back of the circles I added the sentiment.

Cross-stitched Flower

I made this card for a blogging friend a little while ago and forgot to post a photo on my blog after it had been received.

I embossed the background with a Lisa Horton's 'Padded Quilt' embossing folder.  I won a craft voucher over in Kath's blog and I chose to spend it on this lovely Die-namics 'Cross-Stitch Flower Frame' die.  I used the die with green card and cross-stitched the pattern with yellow crochet cotton, adding a yellow circle in the middle.  The sentiment was stamped in green on a slightly smaller white circle.  I used Memory Box 'Stitched Circle Layers' and 'Stitched Scalloped Circle' die cuts for the layers and raised the green one up on foam pads, after adding a strip of yellow and white dotty ribbon across the middle of the card.

Glitter Butterfly

A CAS thank you card for a friend who loves butterflies and glitter.

The background is embossed with a Lisa Horton's 'Cubes' embossing folder.  I used purple glitter card for the Sue Wilson 'Majestic Monarch Butterfly' and the mat.  The sentiment is a SU stamp, stamped in purple.

Love Birds

An anniversary card today, although it could also be used for as a wedding card.

The Woodware 'Birdy Couple' stamped image was coloured with Promarkers.  The circles are Memory Box dies and the background was embossed with an Xcut 'Small Polka Hearts' e/f.  A few pink pearls finished off my card.

Hello!

I was challenged to make a card in brown and white, not normally colours I put together.  I usually put brown with cream, but this is what I came up with.

I started by layering a white piece of card, embossed with an Embossalicious 'Clouds' e/f, on a brown mat.  I made the owl with a Stampin' Up 'Owl Builder' punch.  (TIP - if you have this punch, tiny black peel off dots make perfect pupils and no glue needed. 😉)  I sat the owl on MFT Die-namics 'Branch with Leaves' die cuts, raised up on very thin foam pads to add a little dimension.  The leaves were die cut from an odd snippet of card I'd already coloured with several different brown Distress Inks.  The sentiment is a stamp from the  Happy Little Stampers 'Whimsical Friends' set, stamped with Versafine Clair 'Acorn'.

Penguin and Pixie Powders

A fairly CAS card today.

The bottom of the card was a snippet of card after playing with my Pixie Powders.  I love the metallic sheen created with the powders.  The penguin was made with the Stampin' Up Owl punch, with a little creative cutting to chop of the 'ear' feathers.  I used Spellbinder dies for the two circle mats, which are raised up on foam pads and SU oval punches for the sentiment.

Spring Blooms

A spring flower themed card today.

The flower is a Poppystamps 'Kirby Blooms' die cut.  I cut it out in green first, then die cut the flower heads twice in yellow and layered over the green to add some dimension.  The flower was layered on Memory Box 'Stitched Oval Layers' die cuts.  The patterned paper is from an old Papermania paper pad.  Three green pearls finished off my card. This is the first time I've used this flower die, so I'll be sharing my card over in the NBUS challenge.

Lantern Card

The Butterfly Challenge this fortnight is 'L for Lantern Card'.  Mrs A has put all the instructions for making a lantern card HERE.  My card incorporates all the elements, Lantern Card /Lawn Green/Lilac/Laser Lemon/Lattice work
+ a Butterfly

To include the lattice element, I used a Cheery Lynn 'French Lattice Small Frame', cut in white and layered over yellow.  The green frame was made with two dies from Sue Wilson's 'Double Pierced Squares' set and the circles are Memory Box dies.  The patterned paper is from an old Dovecraft paper pad.  All the flowers were made with dies from the new Lisa Horton box magazine and I alternated the flowers with Poppystamps 'Elsa Butterfly' die cuts on the four folded strips.  The finished card was layered on a lilac mat.

The card folds flat for posting.  I decided not to put a sentiment on the card, as I don't know who will be receiving it.  If a sentiment is needed, I'll either add it in the middle of the lattice, or perhaps put a sentiment on a small tag and attach it to the ribbon.

I'm hoping my little video works. 🤞

Purple and White

HAPPY EASTER

A card today following a sketch on the Creative Minds - Kind Hearts Facebook page.  Following a sketch still takes me out of my comfort zone, but I was pleased how this one turned out.

The patterned papers are from a Papermania paper pad and were snippets left over from a previous project.  I used silver holographic card for the rectangle and circle mats and silver thread on the scalloped die cut circle. The ‘Spirelli’ circle is raised up on foam pads. I didn't have a fish tail banner die the right size, so I cut four banners using a Sue Wilson’s die and hid the join behind the purple circle so it looks like two long ones. The flower in the middle was made with dies from the Creative Expressions 'Petite Forget-Me-Nots'. The sentiment, stamped in purple, was from a SU set of stamps.  Everything, apart from the card base was snippets, so I’ll be sharing my card over in The Playground.

Happy Easter

The April Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the theme 'Easter/Spring'.  Our generous sponsors this month are Lawn Fawn and Crafty Ribbons.

I made a fancy fold card and used a stamp that came as a cover gift with a magazine.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added a faux stitching with a black fineliner pen.  The gingham paper was from a SU paper stack.  I added two little yellow pearls either side of the sentiment, which I'd raised up on foam pads.

On the inside of a card I used a stamp from the same set, leaving space to write the message.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th April.  Please pop over to the challenge blog to see all the cards the DT have made.

Disappearing down the rabbit hole.....

An Easter card today for my great nephew.

I first die cut a hole in a piece of brown card, before embossing with a Darice 'Wood Grain' embossing folder.  I put  a piece of black card on the white card blank where the hole would be.  The bunny was made with circle and oval dies/punches and a white pop pom added.  The leaves are Joy Craft 'Autumn' die cuts.

I thought I'd better tell you that it IS a bunny.  I showed the finished card to my hubby and he thought it was a pair of slippers!
