Christmas Weaving

The Rudolph Days Challenge runs from the 25th until the end of the month, so there are a few days left to enter a Christmas project.

My card today uses up some patterned paper snippets.  I cut two different Christmas patterned papers into 1 1/2 cm strips and wove them together.  I die cut a red frame using Creative Expressions 'Double Pierced Square' dies and attached it over the woven pattern.  This was matted and layered onto a white piece of card and the red card blank.  The sentiment was stamped the Versafine 'Onyx'.

New Job

A good luck card for my daughter, who recently started a new job as a physiotherapist.  I wanted to include a cat, as she adores her beautiful cat, Pudding, and also keep the card predominately blue and white.

The image is by Little Claire, 'Whirlie Cats', which I stamped using Versafine 'Onyx'.  I used some of the dies from the Creative Expressions 'Ornate Pierced Rectangles' set for the top part of the card, cutting the card blank corners to match the die cut.  I added two punched four leaf clovers for luck and a die cut, computer generated sentiment on a panel of the blue pearlised card.

Snowdrops

Like so many bloggers around the world have already said, my heart goes out to all those affected by the horrendous terrorist attack in Manchester this week.  My thoughts and prayers are with them all.
♥  ♥  ♥  ♥

I wanted to make a masculine 60th birthday card for a friend's husband who loves snowdrops and this is what I came up with.  (The white line across the middle is the reflection on the acetate and isn't really there!)

I don't have a snowdrop die, so I decided to use some holographic snowdrop peeloffs on an acetate window. (Please tell me that I'm not the only one who still has a box of peeloffs that rarely get used!) I started by marking on the front of the card blank where the rectangle die would cut.  Then I put DST around the area where the aperture would be, so the patterned paper would be attached around the aperture as well as the outer edges of the card.  (I hope that makes sense.) I covered the front of card blank in patterned paper and then die cut the aperture.   Patterned paper was added to the  inside and I attached a piece of acetate to cover the aperture, before adding the snowdrops.  I used a Die-namics 'Fresh Cut Grass' die cut and added a few holographic circles in the bottom corners.

Tag Card

A tag card today, with a few challenges in mind.
I used a Creative Expressions embossing folder 'Small Beaded Fanfare' for the background.  I made the tag with one of the Poppystamps 'Stitched Main Street Tags' dies, punched a hole and tied through some thin green ribbon.  The flower is a Memory Box die, 'Fuchsia Sprig', which I die cut using white card and coloured with Promarkers.  The sentiment is a white peeloff, which I coloured with one of the Promarkers to match the flower.  The tag is attached with foam pads to add some dimension.

Cream on Cream

A cream card made today with a few current challenges in mind.  (It's cream IRL, although it looks almost white in the photo.)

I started with a 5" square cream card blank, which I covered with a piece of cream linen card. I used one of the MB 'Distressed Baptisia Collage' dies to die cut the geometric corner design from a piece of the same linen card, cut slightly smaller than the card blank.  This was attached with foam pads.  The butterfly is made from MB 'Pippi' and 'Isabella' die cuts, which I layered and attached with foam pads.  To finish my card, I die cut MB 'Alphabet Soup' letters to spell the sentiment.  The butterfly and sentiment are all from the same piece of cream linen card.

The Allsorts Challenge is celebrating its 8th Birthday this week, so I hope you can join in the fun and enter a birthday card in the challenge.  The link is on my sidebar.

Anniversary Card

We have just had a lovely week in Cornwall with a group of ten friends.  The twelve of us have had a holiday together for the last 27 years, starting with a weekend each year and now spending a week away together, in different parts of the country.  Everything went well until a couple of days before were were due to come home.  We were having a walk in the country, walking along a muddy track, when somehow I lost my footing and slipped off the track about 8 or 9 feet down a muddy bank, covered in trees and brambles.  A tree broke my fall when my leg hit against it.  It could have been worse, it could have been my head hitting the tree!  The friend who witnessed my fall said my somersaulting was most impressive!  However, I landed up in A & E with a damaged knee, quite a few bruises and scratches, but fortunately nothing broken.  I have to rest my leg for a while, so a perfect opportunity to do some more crafting. Every cloud has a silver lining!

So, onto today's card.  While we were away, one of the couples was celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for them.

The shaped card was die cut with one of a set of Sizzix 'Flip-Its' dies.  The set of dies was also used to die cut the pink card which I embossed with an Xcut 'Small Polka Dot' folder.  The sentiment is stamped with Versafine 'Onyx' and I added a Creative Expression heart from the 'Mr & Mrs' set of dies.  The heart on the back of the circle is a MB die, 'Sofia Heart'.  All the pink pieces of card were small snippets of the same shade of pink, so I'll be off to share my card in the Playground.

Thinking of You

A 'Thinking if You' card today to go into my box of ready-made cards.  The Less is More Challenge this week is 'Yellow & Grey'. It's not a pair of colours I often think to use together, but I remembered a patterned paper pad I have with yellow, grey and black papers.  I decided on a yellow and grey paper with bird cages.
I covered the card blank front with pale yellow card.  In a piece of white card, slightly smaller than the card blank, I die cut a circle and attached the patterned paper behind the aperture.  I die cut a frame using a MFT 'Stitched Circle Scallop Frames' die and attached it over the top.  The bird is from a Joy! Crafts  'Lin & Lene - Birdcage + 3 birds' set of dies.  The sentiment is an old wood mounted stamp, which was stamped in Versafine 'Smokey Grey'.

Golden Butterfly

Yesterday I was at a local crafting day and decided to take some things along to have a go at Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge.  The theme this fortnight is Butterflies + D is for Decoupage and/or the colour Gold.  For some reason, this theme took some thinking about, but this is what I came up with.

I've interpreted Decoupage and layering, so I've made three layers of the butterfly, attaching each layer with foam pads.  The butterfly is an old SB die which comes in two parts.  The front layer cuts out circle apertures.  The back layer is solid and shows through the apertures.  I die cut the solid butterfly three times for layering.  The gold card is pearlised, which shows up the embossing on the butterfly beautifully.  I used a Couture Creations embossing folder 'Bon Jour' which has a plain panel through the middle.  I used it landscape, although it looks great turned round to make a long card.  The sentiment is a Sizzix stamp, stamped in Versafine 'Onyx', and he tiny gold circles are waste from a die cut.

In the Pink!

Kylie, Founder of Addicted to Stamps and More! challenge blog, Addicted to CAS challenge blog and Happy Little Stampers, has a special challenge on her blog, following her news that she's going to be a Nanna!  The challenge is to make a card in predominently blue or pink.  Quite by chance, I was going to make a post this week with a card I made recently for a friend's daughter who recently gave birth to a baby girl, so I'm posting two pink cards  today.

The first card is a CAS card using one of the dies from the Sue Wilson 'Family Tree!  I die cut the tree from the white card and again from paler pink card.  I then inlaid the white die cut into the aperture left in the pink card.  Next I die cut just the leaves from dark pink card, then inlaid them in the spaces.  I also used Sue Wilson 'Double Pierced Rectangle and Circle' die.

I'm joining in the following challenges with this card:
Kylie's "I'm going to be a Nanna" Competition!
Die Cut Diva's May Challenge ~ Flowers or trees, bushes and grass will count too!

This is the card I made recently for my friend's daughter.

I used the Sue Wilson 'Shadow Box Collection - New Arrival' set of dies.  The heart, ducks and feet are raised up on foam pads.

The Sound of Music

The Cardz 4 Guyz challenge this week is a masculine card with the theme 'Inspired by a Film, a Book or Music'.  I decided to go with the film 'The Sound of Music'.

The die cue is MB 'Party Music' and I used an Embossalicious 'Seasonal Music' embossing folder for the bottom half of the card. The sentiment it attached with foam pads to add dimension and a strip of ribbon finished off my card.

Sunset shadows

Thanks to Jeanne H, my latest follower, for leaving a comment so I could find her blog, Reba Li Creates.  Please pop over to Jeanne's blog to see her lovely creations.

I'm taking a break from tidying my craft room today to post this card.  I find it so hard to declutter my craft stuff, but I'm trying my best and I've already found a couple of things I thought I'd lost.  The theme of the Less is More challenge this week is 'Lucky Dip - Shadow'.  I immediately thought of this  lovely stamp, although now the card is finished, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a shadow or a reflection!  I'm going with the shadow. 😉
I started by die cutting an oval from a piece of white card stock, slightly smaller than the base card.  I made a frame using two MB 'Stitched Ovals' die.  I made the background with Adirondack ink pads and Ink Dusters.  The stamp is by Little Claire 'Silhouette Elephants', which I stamper with Versafine 'Onyx'.  The image was attached to the base card, lining it up so the oval aperture would be in the right place.  The card with the aperture was punched with an inverted corner rounder and attached to the base card with foam tape.  I added tiny black Nuvo Crystal Drops to the corners.  I decide to leave off a sentiment so it can be used for any occasion.
