A fairly CAS monochrome card to share today, in shades of purple.
I used a Memory Box 'Distressed Windham Collage' die in the corner. The butterfly was made with Memory box 'Pippi Butterfly' and 'Isabella Butterfly' dies and I added the flight path with a fineliner pen. The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Best Year' set, stamping in Versafine Clair 'Fantasia'.

I made this card after seeing a challenge on 'aNNie's World Wide Crafty Inventions' Facebook page. The challenge was to show a card or any project you did when first started crafting and a card of how you do things now. I made the card on the left at a cardmaking class nearly 20 years ago. (I still have it!) We were taught how to use peel offs to make a card, everything on the card was a peel off. Fast forward about 20 years and I made the card on the right yesterday ..... die cut butterfly and design in the corner + a stamped sentiment. Here are the two cards side by side.
Very pretty card Liz love the corner die it works well with that pretty butterfly

Beautiful diecut corner and butterfly
ReplyDeleteI love purple, so that makes this one extra attractive... A beautiful card! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteA lovely card Liz and a great comparison to the first card you made. I love to look back on blogs to see how crafters have changed their styles.

I love the corner die on the card. The purple and white color looks so fresh.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card Liz, I have these dies on my wish list. I love the purple and I know someone else who would love the purple color theme too. LOL A beautiful CAS card! Oh how fun that you still have your first ever card, I don't have mine. LOL I made my first card back in the 90's so probably been 20 or more years ago for me too. I love seeing how styles change. Love your card then and love them now! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteCard making has certainly come a long way in twenty years or so
ReplyDeleteLove both of these Liz..it's great to look back on how you first started hugs x
ReplyDeleteFabulous card in these purple tones, Liz, great design and love the butterfly flight path you drawn. Also your old CAs looks very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBig difference in the two cards but they're both so lovely! I love the purple and that single butterfly. Beautiful!

The card made 20 years ago is very pretty using peel offs..I still have some but they don't see the light of day now..perhaps they'll come back into fashion..lol. Your 'now' version is so bright and beautiful with the cut out corner and the super die cut butterfly. We are so lucky to have such a huge range of crafting goodies now. x
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Liz.

Lovely purple make Liz! I love that die.
ReplyDeleteFunny how we have evolved over the years isn't it. Peel offs were such a big thing and now we have so much stuff to choose from sometimes I think it was easier when the range was limited! x
BEAUTIFUL!!! Isn't it fun to look back and see how much we've improved in our crafting! LOVE this purple card (my favorite color of course). GREAT job my friend! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Triple B challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

ReplyDeleteCAS perfection on this gorgeous birthday card.
ReplyDeleteLove your monochrome card Liz, a lovely corner die. As for your 20 year old card, haven't times changed? I had a mass of peel offs, still have a few lurking in the background.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful CAS design with that pop of rich colour. I often think dies are the equivalent of peel offs! I gave all mine to a local craft group ages ago.
ReplyDeleteLove all of that purple! Thanks for playing with us at Time Out.
