I should be at a craft weekend with a group of crafters this weekend. I made these gift boxes containing caramel Easter Eggs to take with me to give to a few crafty friends. Thursday evening I somehow tripped over a kerb and nosedived onto the pavement. (No alcohol involved! 🤣) After 5 1/2 hours in A & E Thursday night, my hand is in a plaster cast and my face looks like I've done several rounds with Mike Tyson! No crafting for a while as my right hand is out of action, so I ate the contents of one or two boxes to cheer myself up. 😋 xx
I used a Craft Addiction 'Cracker Die' I bought recently. I watched a video showing how to use it to make boxes, but I adjusted the measurements to make it the right height for the Easter Eggs. The patterned paper was from The Works. I bought some inexpensive, mini clear hair bands to keep the boxes closed.
I just need to practise typing faster with just one hand as two fingers on my right hand are enclosed in the plaster cast. It's times like this I wish I was left-handed! 🤣
I am joining in the following challenges:

Oh my goodness Liz that sounds painful! Hope you recover quickly but meanwhile I should eat all those chocs! The boxes are lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your trip Liz, but the bit about eating the chocolate made me laugh! You've picked lovely papers for your boxes. I've had this die on my wish list for a while but still not sure if I would use it much.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your mishap Liz,hope the facial bruising fades quickly and your heals well.Gorgeous boxes
ReplyDeleteOh No! What a shame that you have had to miss a craft get together AND have your hand in plaster, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery too. Those boxes are delightful and would (I'm sure) have been hugely appreciated by your crafting buddies
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon

Oh bah that isn't good! Hope you recover soon! Hugs, Gerrina

Oh no Liz, sounds nasty, believe it or not we had a similar day, hubby fell over outside the vets, or should I say it was Fleur's first experience of traffic, was petrified so he pounced on her in case she slipped her harness.
ReplyDeleteThe little Easter gift boxes are so pretty, if it's any consolation typing one handed does get easier, just don't do what I did, used the dictation option on my computer, far too late when those unexpected words have posted!

On no! Hope you're not in too much pain and your hand heals quickly. It's a struggle trying to cope with just one hand, everything takes so much longer...and some things are just impossible. You'll just have to console yourself with the contents of the rest of those pretty boxes! xx
ReplyDeleteOh Liz, what a disaster - restricted crafting until you recover. Guess though it's a brilliant excuse to cut down on the boring housework tasks as well 🤣. Enjoy eating the rest of the chocolate treats and I do like the lovely gift boxes you made and they might just tip me over the edge into getting that cracker die which I've been dithering over for a while. I hope you make a quick recovery from your injuries. Take care x
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely treat boxes Liz and I'm not surprised you ate some of the contents to cheer yourself up. I hope you feel better soon and adapt to using just your one hand for a while.

Oh Liz, I’m so sorry to hear this, and hope both your hand and face heal quickly. I think eating the little eggs to cheer yourself up is totally understandable - I would probably have eaten the lot! It’s very strange but I also have two friends who have had nasty falls recently whilst walking on pavements, and we have concluded that a lot of pavements now are in such a bad state of repair it’s a real hazard! Take care and get better soon - and your little Easter boxes are really sweet by the way xx
ReplyDeleteOh dear Liz, what a disaster, I hope your hand has a speedy recovery
ReplyDeleteOh, Liz. I am so sorry to hear this. What a pain...........literally. I would have eaten the contents of the cute containers as well. I know all too well what it's like to be out of commission. I'm praying you'll make a quicker than you think recovery and that you won't be in any pain. Since it involves your dominant hand it will be difficult so I'm adding that to the prayer list as well. If I lived closer I'd bring you some chicken soup or anything you wanted. Eat as much protein as you can and drink 30 gms of a protein shake. It definitely helps with healing. Ask your doctor. Big hugs to you. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, how awful, and missing your craft day too! You deserve the chocolate 😃. The boxes are so pretty I hope you can Jase them another time. Hope you recover quickly xxx
ReplyDelete“Use” 🙄
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, oh dear! I hope you are feeling a bit better, and that you got to choose the colour of the cast, I had a blue one on my foot last year. I hope you enjoyed the eggs, the boxes are so cute. Have a wonderful week.. Megan
ReplyDeleteOh dear!
ReplyDeleteI have just decided I am too old to wear flip flops and have ordered 'old lady' sandals as my daughter would call them!
I am so afraid of falling!!
Your boxes of treats are fabulous.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Go ahead.
Eat the chocolate!
I'm so sorry to hear about your face plant, Liz! This same thing happened to another bloggie friend of mine recently and she said she looked like she'd been in a prize fight and she is having problems with the use of her right hand. That's just scary and I appreciate your sharing because it reminds us to slow down even if we still feel 35 up in our heads.♥️ Your craft boxes are darling and would have been a big hit. You definitely deserve to have a pity party and eat all the things that bring you comfort, along with a lot of protein. Sending big gentle hugs and a wish for healing with no complications. xoxo Darnell
ReplyDeletep.s. Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS!
