Pull Tab Card

I've wanted to try this style of card for a while, after seeing one on a shelf in a craft workshop.  I had no idea how to make it and couldn't find any written instructions online.   I managed to find a couple of videos on YouTube, so made some notes while I watched them.  I think it's called a 'Pull Tab Card'.  It's a bit like a waterfall card, but only has one flap.  I adjusted the measurements to make a 6" x 4" card.

The patterned paper is from an old paper pad.  The butterflies are from the Stampin' Up 'Butterfly Gala', stamped with Memento 'Tuxedo Black' and coloured with Promarkers and punched out. Now.... I've had this set of stamps for a few months, but it wasn't until I made this card that I realised there are tiny stamps in the set to add the bodies and antennae to the butterflies.  Until now I'd been drawing them on!

When the tab is pulled the flap opens.....

....like this.  The sentiment, stamped with Versafine 'Onyx Black', is from the Stampin' Up 'Humming Along' set of stamps.  I found a leftover piece of white organza ribbon which was just long enough to tie onto the tab.  The tab was made with a Stampin' Up punch.

Stitched Flower

I made this z-fold card for a card swap.

The cross stitch die is by Marianne Designs.  Using a pattern I found online, which I adapted it slightly, the cross stitching was done with crochet cotton.  I rounded the corners of the cross stitch die cut before layering on a Spellbinders 'Lacy Square' die cut.  The front of the card was embossed with a Crafter's Companion 'Sashiko' embossing folder.  The patterned paper is from a old paper pad.

This photo shows the card open, revealing the layered area for writing the message.

A Christmas Blessing

It's the 25th today, so it's time for the Rudolph Days August Challenge, which runs until the end of the month. Last Christmas I kept all the cards we received which I thought I might be able to recycle into new cards.   So rather than the pile of cards just sitting in a box, which they've done for most of the year, I thought I'd use one for this card.

The original card was 7" x 5", so I die cut the image and sentiment into a much smaller rectangle using a Memory Box 'Stitched Rectangle' die.  I used a slightly larger stitched rectangle die for the mat, using non-shed gold glitter card.   The image already had some gold glitter on it.  I punched five stars from the glitter card and added  them down the side of the card.  The card blank and topper are both the same shade of cream, although they look different in the photo.  So.....a quick and easy card today, but I was really pleased how it turned out.

Blue and Silver

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday with a six other crafty friends, enjoying an afternoon tea to celebrate the birthday of one of our group.  This is the card I made for the birthday girl. She is mainly a CAS crafter, so I didn't want to make her card too fussy.
The background die is a Poppystamps 'Atessa Collage' die cut, which reveals the silver, pearlised mat through the apertures.  The flowers are Memory Box 'Chloe Stem' and the sentiment is raised up on foam pads.

Here are a couple of photos taken yesterday.

I think 'Afternoon Tea' is mainly an English thing.  It involves sandwiches, cakes, scones with clotted cream and jam and other delicious, sweet delights, all washed down with lots of cups of tea.
