Polar Bear

I've been AWOL for nearly two weeks as I've been on holiday in Norway searching for the Northern Lights.  No luck finding the lights, but I did win the ship's flag for guessing the time we would cross the Arctic Circle.  When I've finished sorting out my photos, I'll post a few on my blog.

Beccy's Month of Holiday Cards is up the the letter P, so I've got some catching up to do.  (Actually it's up to Q as it's already tomorrow in Australia. 😉)  So my card today features a Polar Bear.

I started by making the background with snippets of red and green card.  I cut them into strips 1" wide and layered them onto a large white snippet of card, slightly smaller than the base card. When the glue was dry I embossed the stripy background with a Crafter's Companion 'Snowflakes' embossing folder, before attaching to the card base.  The image is a Hobby Art rubber stamp, 'Purdy the Polar Bear'. I coloured the image with Promarkers, adding some sparkle with a Wink of Stella glitter brush on the white parts of the hat.  I finished off my card with a sentiment and a snowflake brad.  The stamp is a new one, gifted to me by a friend, so I'll be sharing my card over in the NBUS Challenge.

Crafty Calendar Challenge

The Crafty Calendar Challenge begins today with the easy theme of 'Anything Goes'.  Our generous sponsor this month is Mirtillamente.

Our sponsor kindly gave the DT digi images to work with and I chose to use 'Froggy'.  I coloured the cute image with Promarkers and used Lisa Horton's 'Scalloped Layered Rectangle' dies for matting and layering.  I used an old Cart-Us Lacé die for the decorative panel on the right and added a few tiny green pearls to mirror the leaf in the image.

The Crafty Calendar Challenge ends on 28th November, so plenty of time to join in.  The DT have made some beautiful cards for inspiration, so please pop over to the challenge blog to have a look.

Baubles and Hearts

Another Christmas card made today.... well four actually, as I made four identical cards to add to my pile for this Christmas. For a change, I decided to use non-traditional colours for these card.

I used a snippet of silver mirror card for the bauble die cut.  The lilac card was a snippet too.  Three Card Candi and a layered sentiment finished off my card.

My second card is an Anniversary card I made for friends of ours.  I saw the idea for folding over the top corner for added interest on the Nifty Noodles Crafting Facebook page.

The papers are from an old Docrafts paper pad.  I embossed the smaller heart with an Xcut 'Small Polka Hearts 'embossing folder'.

Inside I kept the hearts theme by die cutting two stitched hearts to make a panel for the message. Three pink pearls finished off my card.

Christmas and Best Wishes

Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards Challenge begin on 1st November.  As it's already November in Australia I'm linking up my first card.

We came home today from just over a week in our little caravan, which is now closed up for the winter.  As usual, I took some crafty things with me to the caravan in case of bad weather.  I'm really behind with my Christmas cards this year, so I decided to batch make some cards and I made 30 of this design to help get me back on track, putting the finishing touches on tonight.

I went through my green snippets drawer and took out every piece of green card which was at least 6" x 4".  I trimmed the green card to make a mat big enough to just leave a small white border of the card blank.  I used a MFT 'Christmas Tree Window' die in a piece of white card to create a tree shaped aperture.  I used the die again with gold glitter card to die cut just the star and inlaid it into the card.  The sentiment is a stamp from the Stampin' Up 'Greatest Part of Christmas', stamped with Versafine 'Onyx Black'.

My second card is one I made following a sketch.
The patterned paper, flower die, enamel dots, stamp and embossing folder were all from one of  Lisa Horton's box kits.
